What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: astragalus root at 2,000 mg per serving. Astragalus is a traditional herb used to support immune and general wellness.
The liquid is made up of vegetable glycerin and purified water as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence we hold for astragalus is sparse. Effectiveness is rated insufficient to judge for a range of conditions including hay fever, amenorrhea, aplastic anemia, angina, asthma, and beta-thalassemia.
That means the research either hasn't been done or isn't strong enough yet to say whether it works for these uses.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Astragalus is generally well tolerated in the short term for healthy adults, though good human safety data are limited. We don't have enough reliable data to recommend it during pregnancy or while breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist if either applies to you.
Rarely, oral astragalus has been linked to chest pain and dizziness in clinical studies, though it's unclear whether astragalus caused these or something else did. Intravenous forms have caused temporary palpitations, dizziness, rash, and itching, but those routes aren't in this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this astragalus product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take immunosuppressants, lithium, cyclophosphamide, or antidiabetes medications. These are all at Moderate risk for interaction with astragalus.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This single-ingredient liquid is best for someone who wants astragalus support and can check it against their medications first. If you take immunosuppressants, lithium, cyclophosphamide, or diabetes drugs, you'll want to review the interactions above with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
Pregnant or breastfeeding? Talk it over with your healthcare provider, since we don't have enough safety data for those stages.

Astragalus Root 2,000 mg by Nature's Answer Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Nature's Answer Astragalus Root 2,000 mg is a single-ingredient liquid, and astragalus does interact with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with immunosuppressants — astragalus appears to stimulate immune function, which could theoretically reduce how well these drugs work, especially in people who've had organ transplants or are managing autoimmune conditions.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
You'll also want to flag lithium (a mood stabilizer) and cyclophosphamide (a chemotherapy drug). Astragalus may have mild diuretic properties that could raise lithium levels and side effects.
With cyclophosphamide, the data are mixed — animal studies disagree on whether astragalus interferes with how it suppresses the immune system.
Additionally, if you take diabetes medications, astragalus might lower your blood sugar more than intended. Clinical research suggests it has blood-sugar-lowering effects on its own.
Altogether, these interactions span 208 individual medications. Before you start this product, run your exact prescriptions through the medication checker on this page.
