Here's the gist. Astragalus is thought to give your immune system a little nudge to be more active. Fostamatinib (Tavalisse) works in the opposite direction for immune thrombocytopenia, calming the immune attack that destroys your platelets. On paper, those two are pulling against each other, so the worry is that astragalus could blunt how well your fostamatinib works and let your platelet counts drift back down (more bruising or bleeding).

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. It's theoretical, based mostly on lab and animal findings, not real people taking both. Still, since keeping your platelets up matters a lot, I'd loop in your doctor or pharmacist before adding astragalus rather than guessing.

What Is Fostamatinib Used For?

Brand name: Tavalisse

Tavalisse (fostamatinib) is used to treat thrombocytopenia — dangerously low platelet counts — in adults with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). It is specifically for people whose platelet counts have not improved enough with at least one earlier ITP treatment.

The goal is to raise platelet counts high enough to reduce the risk of serious bleeding. If platelet counts do not respond sufficiently after 12 weeks, the medication is typically stopped.
