Clinical research in humans shows that astragalus might have hypoglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking astragalus, especially in combination with other hypoglycemic agents, might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

Here's the thing to keep in mind: insulin lispro is a fast-acting insulin that lowers your blood sugar at mealtimes. Some human research suggests astragalus may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. So if you pair the two, those effects can stack on top of each other and push your sugar down a little too far.

In real life, that could mean more episodes of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), with shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or confusion. This isn't a reason to panic, and it's nothing you need to fix on your own. Please don't change your insulin dose. Instead, check your sugar a bit more closely if you add astragalus, and chat with your pharmacist or doctor first so they can guide you.

What Is Insulin Lispro Injection Used For?

Brand names: Admelog, Admelog Solostar

Insulin lispro injection is used to improve glycemic control (blood sugar management) in people with diabetes mellitus. It is a rapid-acting insulin analog approved for use in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Admelog is specifically indicated to improve glycemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus. Humalog Mix75/25 is indicated to improve glycemic control in adults with diabetes mellitus; it is a fixed-ratio mixture of insulin lispro and insulin lispro protamine, and its fixed proportions do not allow for separate adjustment of basal (background) and prandial (mealtime) doses.
