Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The product facts provided do not include effectiveness ratings for riboflavin. If you're considering this supplement for a specific health concern, ask your pharmacist what the evidence shows for your particular reason.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Riboflavin is considered very safe; your body excretes excess amounts in the urine. At recommended doses, riboflavin is safe during pregnancy and while breastfeeding, as it's actually needed at those times — but high-dose supplements in pregnancy or lactation should be discussed with your provider first.
At this 100 mg dose, most people tolerate it well. Dose-related side effects can include nausea and bright yellow urine discoloration.
Diarrhea has been reported rarely, though in one study only one person out of 28 reported it at a much higher dose (400 mg daily).
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start NOW B-2 100 mg, double-check tetracycline antibiotics with your pharmacist — riboflavin may reduce how well they work. Use the medication checker on this page with your exact drug names to be sure.

B-2 100 mg by NOW Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
NOW B-2 100 mg is a single-ingredient supplement containing riboflavin (vitamin B2).
It has one documented interaction: tetracycline antibiotics (a class of antibiotics used for infections and sometimes acne). Taking riboflavin at the same time may theoretically lower how well these antibiotics work.
The concern comes from lab research suggesting riboflavin might reduce tetracycline potency, though this hasn't been reported as a clinical problem in people yet, and it's not clear how significant the effect is in real life.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Although riboflavin interacts with tetracycline antibiotics, the interaction data we hold spans 20 individual medications — meaning the tetracycline class includes multiple drugs in that count. If you take a tetracycline antibiotic, check the tool below with your exact medication before starting this supplement, or ask your pharmacist to time the doses apart if possible.
Riboflavin is generally very well tolerated. Use the medication checker on this page to confirm your specific prescriptions are clear.
