HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Biothin Keto Krill by Dr. Mercola
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Biothin Keto Krill contains 7 ingredients total, including omega-3 fatty acids (eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid from krill oil), choline, and phosphatidylcholine — all involved in cell membranes and brain health. Two other active ingredients are phosphatidylserine, which supports cognitive function, and caprylic acid, a medium-chain fatty acid.
The capsule itself is made from fish gelatin.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Phosphatidylserine is possibly effective for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer disease. Phosphatidylcholine is possibly effective for ulcerative colitis.
For the other ingredients in this product, the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate their effectiveness, or they haven't been well studied for the purposes they're marketed toward.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Choline is likely safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, though prenatal or supplement doses should be taken only as your doctor advises, since choline needs are higher while breastfeeding. Phosphatidylserine should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to insufficient safety data.
Phosphatidylcholine is generally well tolerated but lacks reliable long-term safety data and sufficient study during breastfeeding — speak with your healthcare provider first. At very high doses, choline can cause fishy body odor, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and sweating.
Phosphatidylserine may cause flatulence, nausea, headache, and insomnia (especially at higher doses). Caprylic acid is well tolerated short-term but may cause mild abdominal discomfort or taste changes.
Phosphatidylcholine can cause bloating, diarrhea, nausea, and altered taste, especially at large doses.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your exact medications before taking this product if you use antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure medications), anticholinergic drugs, cholinergic drugs, NSAIDs (like ibuprofen or naproxen), or warfarin (a blood thinner). These interactions are Moderate or Minor in severity but can affect how your medications work.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product combines omega-3s and choline-related compounds that may support brain and cell health, though evidence is mixed. If you take blood pressure medication, blood thinners like warfarin, NSAIDs, or any anticholinergic drug (like atropine), check with your pharmacist first — several ingredients here could affect how those medications work.
Talk to your pharmacist before starting, especially if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or on any regular prescriptions.

Biothin Keto Krill by Dr. Mercola Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Biothin Keto Krill by Dr.
Mercola contains several ingredients with documented interactions. The most serious concern is phosphatidylserine, which may interfere with anticholinergic drugs (drugs that block acetylcholine) and may also add to the effects of cholinergic drugs (drugs that increase acetylcholine).
Both are Moderate-severity interactions.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Caprylic acid may theoretically increase blood pressure medication effects (raising the risk of low blood pressure), increase levels of NSAIDs like ibuprofen or naproxen in your blood, and increase warfarin (a blood thinner) levels. Choline has a Minor interaction with atropine (an anticholinergic drug used for certain eye and heart conditions), where it might reduce atropine's effects in the brain.
We were unable to check three of the product's ingredients — eicosapentaenoic acid, docosahexaenoic acid, and phospholipids — because we hold no interaction data for them. Phosphatidylcholine showed no interactions in our database.
Altogether, these interactions span 475 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to verify your exact drugs before starting.

For each ingredient in Biothin Keto Krill with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Caprylic Acid
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, caprylic acid might increase the risk of hypotension when used with antihypertensive drugs.
Animal research suggests that caprylic acid might have positive inotropic effects, resulting in reduced arterial pressure and vascular resistance and increased cardiac output.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (Nsaids)
Theoretically, caprylic acid might increase plasma concentrations of NSAIDs.
In vitro research suggests that caprylic acid might displace NSAIDs from binding sites on albumin. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Theoretically, caprylic acid might increase plasma concentrations of warfarin.
In vitro research suggests that high doses of caprylic acid might displace warfarin from albumin binding sites. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Phosphatidylserine
Anticholinergic Drugs
Theoretically, phosphatidylserine might decrease the effectiveness anticholinergic drugs.
Phosphatidylserine is thought to increase acetylcholine levels, which could theoretically interfere with the activity of anticholinergic agents.
Cholinergic Drugs
Theoretically, phosphatidylserine might have additive effects with cholinergic drugs.
Phosphatidylserine is thought to increase acetylcholine levels, which could theoretically lead to additive cholinergic effects when used with cholinergic drugs.
Keto Krill Oil
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, krill oil may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Taking high doses of omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil can modestly decrease platelet aggregation. Since krill oil also contains these fatty acids, taking high doses of krill oil might also inhibit platelet aggregation. Theoretically, taking high doses of krill oil with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs might increase the risk of bleeding. However, the omega-3 content of krill oil is much lower than that of fish oil.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking krill oil with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some research in animals and humans shows that krill oil might lower blood glucose levels. However, a small study shows that taking krill oil does not reduce blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes, most of whom were taking antidiabetes drugs.
Choline
Atropine
Theoretically, choline might decrease the effects of atropine in the brain.
Animal research shows that administering choline one hour before administering atropine can attenuate atropine-induced decreases in brain levels of acetylcholine. Theoretically, concomitant use of choline and atropine may decrease the effects of atropine.
