Phosphatidylserine + Acepromazine
Acepromazine brand name: Atravet.
Phosphatidylserine has a moderate interaction with Acepromazine. Theoretically, phosphatidylserine might decrease the effectiveness anticholinergic drugs.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Acepromazine
Acepromazine falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS — the group Phosphatidylserine interacts with.
Phosphatidylserine is thought to increase acetylcholine levels, which could theoretically interfere with the activity of anticholinergic agents.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist of it. Acepromazine (Atravet) is a sedative most often used in animals, and along with its calming effect it has some anticholinergic activity, meaning it blocks the chemical messenger acetylcholine. Phosphatidylserine may nudge acetylcholine levels up. In theory, that could push back against acepromazine's anticholinergic side and make it a touch less effective.
I want to be honest about how soft this is. It's a theoretical concern with limited evidence, and acepromazine is mainly a veterinary medication. If a pet is on it, or if you ever take a drug with strong anticholinergic effects yourself, just mention the supplement to your pharmacist or vet before combining them. Don't start or stop anything on your own.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Acepromazine page
“Alcohol tops my concerns with acepromazine, a phenothiazine tranquilizer. Beer and wine both carry major ratings backed by human data, because they deepen its sedation and can add other side effects.”

About Phosphatidylserine
What is Phosphatidylserine?
- Memory and cognitive support
- Age-related cognitive decline
- Attention and focus (ADHD)
- Mental performance under stress
- Exercise recovery
Phosphatidylserine is a natural fat-like compound found in cell membranes, especially in the brain, and it is sold mainly to support memory and thinking. Some research suggests possible benefits for age-related memory problems, but the evidence is limited and far from conclusive. It is generally well tolerated, but check with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
