Here's the basic idea with this pairing. Chlorpromazine (Thorazine) has anticholinergic activity, meaning part of how it works is by quieting down a brain chemical called acetylcholine. Phosphatidylserine may nudge acetylcholine levels in the other direction, so in theory it could slightly work against that anticholinergic piece of chlorpromazine.

I want to be honest about how soft this is. It's mostly theoretical, based on limited evidence, so most people likely won't notice anything. If your symptoms felt less controlled, that would be the thing to watch for. Chlorpromazine isn't a prodrug, so this isn't about it building up. Please don't start, stop, or change either one on your own. Just loop in your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how you're doing.

Phosphatidylserine is a natural fat-like compound found in cell membranes, especially in the brain, and it is sold mainly to support memory and thinking. Some research suggests possible benefits for age-related memory problems, but the evidence is limited and far from conclusive. What Is Chlorpromazine Used For?

Brand names: Thorazine, Thorazine Spansules

Chlorpromazine is used to manage psychotic disorders and treat schizophrenia. It also controls nausea and vomiting, relieves restlessness and apprehension before surgery, and controls the manic phase of manic-depressive illness. Other uses include relief of intractable hiccups, treatment of acute intermittent porphyria, and use as an adjunct in tetanus treatment.

In children ages 1 to 12, it is used for severe behavioral problems marked by explosive or combative behavior, and for short-term treatment of hyperactive children with conduct disorders. The oral forms are also approved for the management of manifestations of psychotic disorders broadly, in addition to the uses shared with the injection form.
