Here's the idea behind this pairing. Clomipramine is a tricyclic antidepressant, and like most of its family, it has noticeable anticholinergic activity (think dry mouth, constipation, blurry vision, and trouble urinating). Phosphatidylserine is thought to nudge up levels of acetylcholine, the very chemical messenger that anticholinergic drugs work against. So in theory, the supplement could slightly blunt some of clomipramine's anticholinergic effects.

I want to be honest with you: this is mostly theoretical, and the evidence is fairly thin. For most people it likely won't cause a real problem, and it does not change clomipramine's main job of treating OCD. Still, since clomipramine is a sensitive medication, it's worth mentioning to your pharmacist or doctor before you add phosphatidylserine, just so they can keep an eye on how you're doing.

Clomipramine — sold as Anafranil and under the generic name Clomipramine Hydrochloride — is approved to treat obsessions and compulsions in people with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). This includes adults and children/adolescents ages 10 to 17.

To qualify for treatment, the obsessions or compulsions must cause significant distress, take up a lot of time, or noticeably interfere with work, school, or social life.
