Black Cohosh by Oregon's Wild Harvest Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Oregon's Wild Harvest Black Cohosh lists one active ingredient—organic black cohosh—but our data links it to a blue cohosh monograph, which documents moderate interactions with three medication types.
The biggest concern is blood pressure and heart drugs (antihypertensives). Blue cohosh constituents can tighten blood vessels in the heart and raise blood pressure, which may weaken how drugs like captopril, enalapril, losartan, and valsartan work to control high blood pressure or angina.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Moderate concerns also apply to diabetes medications and nicotine. Blue cohosh may raise blood glucose levels, potentially reducing how well insulin, glimepiride, glyburide, pioglitazone, rosiglitazone, and chlorpropamide lower your blood sugar.
Additionally, blue cohosh can heighten nicotine's effects if you use any nicotine product.
Altogether, these interactions span 259 individual medications. Before you take this product, check your exact prescriptions and any nicotine use with your doctor or pharmacist—especially if you manage blood pressure, blood sugar, or use nicotine.
