Orally, Ceylon cinnamon is generally well tolerated when taken as a supplement. The most common side effects are mild: bloating, indigestion (dyspepsia), and nausea — and adverse reactions are uncommon.
There is one case report of bleeding in a patient who took a tablespoon of Ceylon cinnamon daily for months before surgery, so if you're having a procedure, let your doctor know you're taking this. Rarely, people have reported itching, rashes, or allergic contact reactions; if you develop a rash or itching after starting, stop and contact us.
For pregnancy, food amounts of cinnamon are likely safe, but the safety data on supplement doses during pregnancy is conflicting — some sources say likely unsafe. During breastfeeding, food amounts are likely safe, but the safety of supplement doses isn't well studied.
