Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: Chaga Mushroom at 450 mg per capsule. Chaga is a fungus that grows on birch trees, traditionally used in teas and foods.

The capsule itself is made with gelatin and water as inactive ingredients.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Chaga product and its label doesn't state a use — see Chaga's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for chaga's effectiveness isn't established in the data we hold. Studies have looked at chaga for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and COVID-19, but the reliable evidence to rate it for any of these is insufficient.

That doesn't mean it doesn't work — just that we don't have solid human trial data yet.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Chaga is generally well tolerated when used in foods and teas, but human safety data are limited. There have been two cases of kidney failure and one case of acute kidney injury linked to very high chaga consumption — chaga contains high levels of oxalate, which can be hard on your kidneys if you take too much over time.

If you have kidney disease or a history of kidney stones, this is something to discuss with your doctor or pharmacist. For pregnancy, there isn't enough safety information, so it's best to avoid it.

The same goes for breastfeeding — the data just aren't there yet to know either way.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Chaga.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; immunosuppressants / transplant drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 327 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before you start Chaga Mushroom 450 mg, double-check it with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin or aspirin) — there's a moderate theoretical risk of increased bleeding. Also flag it if you're on immunosuppressants or diabetes medications, where chaga may interfere with how they work.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Chaga Mushroom might interest you if you're exploring traditional mushroom supplements, but the human evidence for its benefits isn't established yet. If you take blood thinners, immunosuppressants, or diabetes medications, you'll need to clear this with your doctor or pharmacist first — the theoretical risks are real enough to warrant that conversation.

Check with your own healthcare provider about whether it's right for you.

Chaga Mushroom 450 mg by TerraVita Premium Collection: Common Questions

Does Chaga Mushroom 450 mg by TerraVita Premium Collection interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Chaga Mushroom 450 mg has a known interaction with 327 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Chaga Mushroom 450 mg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I'm on blood thinners like warfarin?
Not without talking to your doctor first. Animal research suggests chaga might slow clotting, which could increase your bleeding risk on top of what warfarin already does. It hasn't been seen in humans, but the concern is real enough that you need your prescriber's input before combining them.
Is chaga safe if I have kidney problems?
That's something to discuss with your doctor. Chaga contains high amounts of oxalate, and there have been rare reports of kidney failure tied to very high intakes. If you have kidney disease or have had kidney stones, mention this supplement to your doctor before taking it.
Can I take this while pregnant or breastfeeding?
There isn't enough safety data to know either way, so it's best to avoid it during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it makes sense for your situation.
Does chaga actually help with diabetes or heart disease?
The reliable evidence to say so isn't established yet. Studies have looked at it for both conditions, but we don't have solid human trial data backing up those uses.
What exactly is in this capsule besides chaga?
The capsule itself is made from gelatin and water — just the inactive stuff that holds the chaga powder in form. The active ingredient is the 450 mg of chaga mushroom.
