Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: choline, a nutrient that plays a role in brain function, cell structure, and liver health. Each capsule provides 500 mg.

The capsule itself is made from vegetable cellulose, a plant-based inactive ingredient.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Choline's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: memory and mental clarity in healthy individuals.
  • We looked for evidence on: Age-related cognitive decline, Alzheimer disease, Cognitive function, Dementia, Infant development, Neural tube birth defects.
  • The closest evidence on file: Choline is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Age-related cognitive decline (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Choline is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Alzheimer disease, Cognitive function, Dementia, Neural tube birth defects, and more.

The evidence we hold on choline is mixed. For athletic performance, the data suggests it's possibly ineffective.

For Alzheimer disease, age-related cognitive decline, hay fever, liver health during tube feeding (TPN-associated hepatic steatosis), and bronchitis, there isn't enough reliable evidence yet to draw a conclusion about whether it works.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Choline is generally well tolerated when you take an appropriate dose. However, high-dose supplements can cause side effects.

The daily upper limit is 3.5 grams; at doses of 9 grams or more, you may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and a fishy body odor due to how your gut breaks it down. This 500 mg dose is well below that threshold.

Choline is important during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and the safety data rates it as likely safe during both. That said, use it only at doses your doctor recommends—don't self-dose high amounts during these times.

Minor only

Only Minor-severity interactions are documented for these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Choline.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Minor.
  • For scale: 16 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

If you take atropine or any anticholinergic medications (Minor severity), check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this supplement, as choline may theoretically reduce how well they work.

Atropine

Theoretically, choline might decrease the effects of atropine in the brain.
