Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: choline, a compound your body uses to support brain function, muscle control, and cell health. At 550 mg per capsule, it's well below doses known to cause side effects in most people.

The capsule itself is made from vegetable cellulose, and the other inactive ingredients are rice powder, cellulose, leucine, and silica—all common excipients.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Choline product and its label doesn't state a use — see Choline's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for choline on the conditions listed in the product monograph is mixed. For athletic performance, the data suggests it's possibly ineffective.

For age-related cognitive decline, Alzheimer disease, bronchitis, hay fever, and a liver condition called TPN-associated hepatic steatosis, there isn't enough reliable evidence to rate how well it works. If you're considering choline for one of these reasons, talk with your doctor about whether the evidence supports it for your situation.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Choline at this dose (550 mg) is generally well tolerated. Side effects—mainly fishy body odor—occur with high doses, typically at least 9 grams daily and above the tolerable upper limit of 3.5 grams per day.

At those very high levels, some people report nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and sweating. During pregnancy, choline is important for your baby's development, but use only prenatal or supplement doses as your doctor advises.

While breastfeeding, your choline needs are higher; use supplements only under professional guidance. The data rates choline as likely safe in pregnancy and lactation when used appropriately.

Only Minor-severity interactions are documented for these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Choline.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Minor.
  • For scale: 16 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you use atropine (a Minor interaction; choline might reduce its effect). No interactions are documented in our data for any other medication types associated with choline.

Atropine

Theoretically, choline might decrease the effects of atropine in the brain.
Animal research shows that administering choline one hour before administering atropine can attenuate atropine-induced decreases in brain levels of acetylcholine. Theoretically, concomitant use of choline and atropine may decrease the effects of atropine.
