What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Elderol against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Elderol by North American Herb & Spice
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Elderol contains 3 active ingredients: elderberry extract (raw, wild), oregano, and a Multiple Spice Formula. The product is delivered as a liquid.
Elderberry and oregano are traditional culinary herbs now used as supplements. We hold no information on what the Multiple Spice Formula contains or why it's included in this formulation.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for elderberry isn't established for the conditions listed in our data — hay fever, heart disease, chronic fatigue, COPD, memory, and respiratory infections all carry a rating of Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate. The same goes for oregano: acne, bronchitis, asthma, headache, and upper respiratory infections also lack established evidence in our data.
If you're considering this product for a specific reason, talk with your pharmacist about what the evidence actually shows for that use.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Properly prepared elderberry extracts are generally well tolerated, but this product is a raw, wild extract — a key distinction. Raw or unripe elderberries, seeds, leaves, and bark contain compounds that can cause nausea, vomiting, severe diarrhea, weakness, dizziness, and numbness.
Cooking eliminates this risk, but raw extracts do not. One rare case reported autoimmune hepatitis (liver inflammation) after years of elderberry use in someone with existing autoimmune disease.
Oregano is safe in food amounts but less studied at supplement doses; some people develop gastrointestinal upset, skin reactions, or rarely severe allergic reactions. During pregnancy, avoid elderberry supplements and medicinal oregano amounts (food seasonings are fine); breastfeeding safety for oregano supplements isn't established.
There's insufficient data on oregano during lactation to know either way.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take Elderol, double-check with your pharmacist if you're on immunosuppressant medications (like those after transplant), blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs, diabetes medications, or pazopanib (Votrient). Moderate interactions are documented for all of these drug types.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product is for people interested in traditional herbal supplements, but the raw elderberry and oregano here come with meaningful drug interactions — especially with immune-suppressing drugs, blood thinners, cancer medications, and diabetes drugs. If you're on any prescription medication, check it against this product first.

Elderol by North American Herb & Spice Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Elderol by North American Herb & Spice contains elderberry extract and oregano, both of which have documented interactions with medications.
The most serious concern is elderberry's potential interaction with immunosuppressant drugs — because elderberry boosts immune activity, it could theoretically interfere with medications that intentionally dampen your immune system, and this is rated Moderate severity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Elderberry also has a documented Moderate interaction with pazopanib (a cancer drug). One case reported severe nausea, loose stools, and liver injury when these were combined, though this was a single patient report.
Oregano carries Moderate interactions with blood thinners (anticoagulants) — it may increase bleeding risk — and with diabetes medications, where it might lower blood sugar too far. Altogether, these interactions span 322 individual medications.
We could not check the Multiple Spice Formula ingredient in this product, so we can't speak to any interactions it may have. If you take any medications, especially immunosuppressants, blood thinners, diabetes drugs, or pazopanib, use the medication checker on this page before you start.
