Formula 336 has two active ingredients: pygeum extract and stinging nettle. Pygeum is traditionally used to support men's prostate health, and research shows it's likely effective for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) — a common condition where the prostate enlarges with age.
Stinging nettle is added here for additional support; the data suggests it may help with blood sugar control in people with diabetes, though evidence for other uses is not yet established. The capsules also contain inactive ingredients — vegetable cellulose, gelatin, and vegetable magnesium stearate — which help hold and deliver the active ingredients.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Pygeum extract is likely effective for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), the enlargement of the prostate that can make urination difficult. For other uses listed in the research — including Alzheimer's disease, malaria, sexual desire, and psychosis — the evidence isn't strong enough to rate.
Stinging nettle may help with blood sugar control in people with diabetes. For hay fever (allergic rhinitis), anemia, asthma, prostate health, and gum inflammation, the evidence we hold doesn't establish whether it works.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Pygeum is generally well tolerated short-term, though long-term safety data are sparse. A small number of people in clinical trials reported nausea and abdominal pain, but rates matched placebo.
Stinging nettle is also generally well tolerated when used as directed, and the most common side effects are constipation or diarrhea. Topical contact with fresh stinging nettle leaves can cause localized itching, rash, and stinging that may last hours.
Rare case reports link stinging nettle supplements (taken with other herbal ingredients) to liver injury, though causation is unclear. The safety data advise against pygeum in pregnancy — it's used for men's prostate health and isn't established for pregnant people — and against stinging nettle in pregnancy due to traditional concerns about uterine effects and insufficient data.

Theoretically, stinging nettle might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Clinical research shows that stinging nettle might decrease blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes.
Diuretic Drugs

Animal research suggests that the above ground parts and roots of stinging nettle may have a diuretic effect.
Lithium
Theoretically, stinging nettle might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Animal research suggests that stinging nettle has diuretic and natriuretic properties, which could alter the excretion of lithium. The dose of lithium might need to be decreased.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is some concern that stinging nettle might decrease the effects of anticoagulant drugs such as warfarin.
Stinging nettle contains a significant amount of vitamin K. When taken in large quantities, this might interfere with the activity of warfarin.
