Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), a compound naturally present in your brain and nervous system. It's included at 600 mg per capsule.
The capsule itself is made from hypromellose and contains inactive ingredients — microcrystalline cellulose, vegetable stearates, and silicon dioxide — that help hold the product together and aid absorption.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for GABA supplements isn't well established in the data we hold. It has been studied for anxiety, ADHD, athletic performance, cerebral palsy, and chronic bronchitis, but the data we have shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate its effectiveness for any of these uses.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means the clinical trials to date haven't been conclusive enough to say either way. If you're considering it for a specific condition, talk it over with your doctor so you can weigh what's known against what you're hoping to treat.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Orally, GABA is generally well tolerated in the short term, though long-term safety isn't well studied. The most common side effects reported are drowsiness, nausea, gastric upset, minor throat burning, and muscle weakness.
One case linked oral GABA to a temporary loss of menstruation. Your safety with GABA depends on how long you're planning to use it and your individual health — there just isn't enough data for us to be sure about extended use.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you're on blood pressure medications — GABA may lower blood pressure further. Also mention it if you take sedating drugs, including sleep aids, anti-anxiety medications, or opioid pain relievers, since adding GABA might increase drowsiness.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
GABA 600 mg might be worth considering if you're curious about it for relaxation or sleep, but understand that the evidence for how well it works isn't clear yet. If you take blood pressure medications or sedating drugs, you'll need to check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it.
Long-term use is the bigger safety question mark, so this is one to discuss with your healthcare provider before making it part of your routine.

GABA 600 mg by Evlution Nutrition Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
GABA 600 mg by Evlution Nutrition contains one active ingredient — GABA itself — which has documented interactions with two major medication categories.
The most serious concern is with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives); GABA may lower blood pressure further, raising the risk of excessively low blood pressure (hypotension). This is a moderate-severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
GABA also has a minor interaction with central nervous system depressants (CNS depressants) — medications like sedatives, sleep aids, and some pain relievers. In theory, combining GABA with these drugs could add to their sedative effects, though it's unclear how much of a practical concern this is in real life.
Altogether, these interactions span 419 individual medications. Before you start GABA, run your current medications through the interaction checker below, especially if you take any blood pressure medication or sedating drugs.
Your doctor or pharmacist can tell you whether this product is right for your regimen.

For each ingredient in GABA 600 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, taking GABA with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Some clinical research shows that GABA can decrease blood pressure in patients with hypertension.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, GABA might have additive sedative effects when used in conjunction with CNS depressants. However, it is unclear if this concern is clinically relevant.
Endogenous GABA has well-established relaxant effects and GABA(A) receptors have an established physiological role in sleep. However, the effects of GABA supplements are unclear, as it is unknown whether exogenous GABA crosses the blood-brain barrier. Although there have been limited reports of drowsiness or tiredness with GABA supplements, these effects have not been widely reported in clinical studies. Additionally, intravenous GABA 0.1-1 mg/kg has been shown to induce anxiety in a dose-dependent manner.
