HelloPharmacist Scorecard of GABA 750 mg by Nature's Truth
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
GABA 750 mg by Nature's Truth contains a single active ingredient: gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a compound your brain naturally produces to help calm nerve activity. The capsule also includes inactive ingredients — gelatin, magnesium stearate, silica, and rice powder — that help hold and deliver the dose.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for GABA isn't established in the data we hold. The product is marketed for anxiety, ADHD, athletic performance, cerebral palsy, and chronic bronchitis, but studies on GABA supplements show insufficient reliable evidence to rate whether it actually works for any of these uses.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means the research hasn't conclusively shown it yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
GABA is generally well tolerated in the short term, but long-term safety hasn't been well studied, so we don't have solid data on what happens if you take it for months or years. The most common side effects reported with oral GABA are drowsiness, nausea, stomach upset, minor throat burning, and muscle weakness.
One patient on GABA combined with another supplement reported a temporary loss of menstrual periods. There isn't enough safety information to recommend it during breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood pressure medication — GABA may lower your pressure further. Also flag it if you take any central nervous system depressants, including sedatives, sleep aids, anxiety medications, opioids, or drink alcohol regularly.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
GABA might be worth considering if you're interested in a natural calming supplement — but the evidence that it actually works isn't firm yet. If you take blood pressure medication or anything that makes you drowsy, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
Since long-term safety isn't well studied, talk it over with your healthcare provider about whether it's right for you.

GABA 750 mg by Nature's Truth Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
GABA 750 mg by Nature's Truth interacts with two main medication types — blood pressure drugs and central nervous system depressants — through its single active ingredient, GABA.
The most serious concern is with blood pressure medications: GABA may lower your blood pressure further, raising the risk of excessively low blood pressure (hypotension), which can cause dizziness, fainting, or other complications.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
With central nervous system depressants — sedatives, sleep aids, anxiety medications, opioids, and alcohol — GABA might add to their calming effects. The concern is mainly theoretical, and it's unclear how much of a practical problem this poses, but it's worth knowing about.
Always check your exact medications with the search tool on this page before you start GABA. If you take blood pressure medication or anything that makes you drowsy, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist first.

For each ingredient in GABA 750 mg with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, taking GABA with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Some clinical research shows that GABA can decrease blood pressure in patients with hypertension.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, GABA might have additive sedative effects when used in conjunction with CNS depressants. However, it is unclear if this concern is clinically relevant.
Endogenous GABA has well-established relaxant effects and GABA(A) receptors have an established physiological role in sleep. However, the effects of GABA supplements are unclear, as it is unknown whether exogenous GABA crosses the blood-brain barrier. Although there have been limited reports of drowsiness or tiredness with GABA supplements, these effects have not been widely reported in clinical studies. Additionally, intravenous GABA 0.1-1 mg/kg has been shown to induce anxiety in a dose-dependent manner.
