This product contains 5 active ingredients. L-cysteine hydrochloride is an amino acid that your body uses to make glutathione, a powerful antioxidant.
Bilberry fruit extract is made from the berries of the bilberry plant and is rich in anthocyanins (pigments with antioxidant properties). Beet is included for its nitrates and betalains, compounds that may support blood flow and reduce oxidative stress.
Setria is a branded form of glutathione itself, the main antioxidant this product aims to deliver. The AnthoRedoxin Blend rounds out the formula with additional antioxidant plant compounds.
The product also contains several inactive ingredients — hypromellose, cellulose, ascorbyl palmitate, and silica — which are fillers and binders that help form and preserve the capsule.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for what this product can do is limited. For beet, there is possibly effective evidence for athletic performance and exercise-induced muscle soreness — meaning some studies suggest benefit, but the research isn't yet strong or complete.
For glutathione (Setria), there is possibly effective evidence only for reducing nerve damage from the chemotherapy drug cisplatin. For the other ingredients — L-cysteine for hangover, stroke, androgenic alopecia (hair loss), and gastritis; and bilberry for night vision, age-related cognitive decline, age-related macular degeneration, atherosclerosis, high cholesterol, and chronic venous insufficiency — the evidence is insufficient to rate whether they work.
None of these uses have strong proof behind them in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Beet is widely eaten as food and is generally well tolerated, though concentrated beet supplements lack long-term safety data. L-cysteine is generally well tolerated in food amounts, but the long-term safety of high-dose supplements hasn't been well studied.
Bilberry fruit is safe as food, but concentrated supplements have limited safety evidence — the most common side effects in studies were dark or black stools, flatulence, and mild gastrointestinal discomfort, and a small number of people reported temporary GI effects or tongue discoloration. Glutathione (Setria) appears generally well tolerated short-term, though long-term safety is less clear, and inhaled glutathione can trigger airway narrowing and cough in people with asthma.
For pregnancy: L-cysteine and bilberry are likely safe, but there isn't enough reliable safety information for glutathione during pregnancy or breastfeeding — the data advises caution or avoidance in both cases. We hold no pregnancy or breastfeeding data on file for beet.

L-cysteine and bilberry also both theoretically increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when taken with diabetes medications, so if you're on insulin or other blood-sugar drugs, you'll want to monitor closely. Beet in this product interacts with two enzyme systems in your liver: it might raise levels of certain heart and cancer drugs that depend on CYP3A4 (like some statins, beta blockers, and immunosuppressants), and it may lower levels of drugs that depend on CYP1A2 (like some antidepressants and asthma medications).
Bilberry also theoretically affects CYP2E1 substrates and may reduce how well erlotinib (a cancer drug) works.
We could not check black elder berry extract — we hold no safety data for it. Setria (glutathione) and the AnthoRedoxin Blend did not show documented interactions in our data.

Beet
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, beet might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that betanin, the major pigment in beet, competitively inhibits CYP3A4 in a dose-dependent manner similarly to strong CYP3A4 inhibitor ketoconazole.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Beet and beetroot contain nitrates, which can cause vasodilation, potentially leading to lower blood pressure. However, a study published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition using concentrated beetroot juice found no significant impact on blood pressure or heart rate in different age groups. Other small clinical studies suggest that while beet consumption might transiently lower blood pressure due to vessel dilation, there's no consistent evidence of a lasting effect. Overall, the theoretical risk of reduced blood pressure due to beet's nitrate content exists, but studies generally indicate a low and temporary impact rather than a sustained decrease.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, beet might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that beet induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
Bilberry Fruit Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, bilberry fruit extract might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro, animal, and clinical research suggest that anthocyanidin extracts from bilberry can inhibit platelet aggregation.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, bilberry leaf or fruit extract may increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that bilberry leaf extract might have blood glucose-lowering activity. Also, one small clinical trial in patients with type 2 diabetes shows that taking bilberry fruit extract 470 mg as a single dose prior to an oral glucose tolerance test lowers plasma glucose levels when compared with placebo.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates
Theoretically, bilberry fruit extract might decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2E1.
Animal research shows that exposure to small concentrations of bilberry extract in drinking water for around one month increased CYP2E1 activity by 31%. However, exposure over a 2-month period did not increase CYP2E1 activity. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Erlotinib (Tarceva)
Theoretically, bilberry fruit extract might reduce the efficacy of erlotinib.
In vitro research suggests that bilberry fruit extract and its constituents, delphinidin and delphinidin-3-O-glucoside, inhibit the activity of erlotinib. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Black Elder Berry Extract
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, elderberry might interfere with immunosuppressant therapy due to its immunostimulant activity.
Elderberry has immunostimulant activity, increasing the production of cytokines, including interleukin and tumor necrosis factor.
Pazopanib (Votrient)
Theoretically, elderberry might interact with pazopanib, potentially increasing the risk of adverse effects.
L-Cysteine Hydrochloride
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking L-cysteine supplements with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research suggests that L-cysteine can have hypoglycemic effects.
