The evidence for alpha-GPC is mixed. It's rated possibly effective for Alzheimer disease, meaning some clinical support exists.

Alpha-GPC is generally well tolerated in studies, though long-term safety hasn't been fully established. A small number of trial participants experienced dizziness, headache, insomnia, and excitation; some reported nausea, heartburn, or diarrhea.
Rarely, stroke has been reported in people taking alpha-GPC orally for at least two months — a serious finding that deserves discussion with your doctor if you're thinking of long-term use. Theoretically, alpha-GPC might decrease the effects of scopolamine.
A small clinical study shows that alpha-GPC can partially counteract the attention and memory impairment effects caused by scopolamine given intramuscularly. Whether alpha-GPC can decrease the beneficial anti-motion sickness effects of the scopolamine patch (Transderm Scop) is unclear.
