Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: graviola powder, which comes from the fruit of the graviola tree. It's been used traditionally in folk medicine, though what it does in the body isn't yet well established by research.

There are no inactive ingredients listed for this product.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Graviola product and its label doesn't state a use — see Graviola's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence we hold doesn't establish that graviola is effective for any condition. The data shows insufficient reliable evidence for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, headache, acting as an insect repellent, or male infertility.

If you're considering it for one of these uses, there's not yet a solid scientific foundation to rely on.

How safe is it?

Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Regular use of graviola may not be safe. The most common side effects are stomach pain and nausea, but there's a bigger concern: long-term use raises the possibility of nerve damage, and regular consumption has been linked to movement disorders and nerve-related paralysis (myeloneuropathy) — symptoms that can look like Parkinson disease.

People with Parkinson disease who consume even small amounts of graviola over time have reported worsening of movement and thinking problems. Graviola is rated possibly unsafe in pregnancy and should be avoided while breastfeeding because there isn't enough safety data.

If you're pregnant, nursing, or planning either, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Graviola Fruit Powder hasn't been proven effective for the conditions it's traditionally used for. More importantly, regular use carries real safety concerns — especially nerve damage and movement problems with long-term intake — and it interacts with seizure medication.

If you take carbamazepine, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have any concern about nerve or movement health, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
