Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 2 of its 2 active ingredients.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

Haritaki Extract by Herbadiet contains 2 active ingredients: haritaki fruit extract and haritaki. The product is delivered in a vegetable cellulose capsule shell.

Haritaki — also called Terminalia — is a dried fruit used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. In this product it's provided as an extract, which concentrates its active compounds.

Does it work?

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

We hold no graded evidence for this product's ingredients for its stated purpose.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: natural internal cleansing and tissue rejuvenation.
  • We looked for evidence on: detoxification, digestive health, gastrointestinal wellness, tissue repair.
  • Our graded evidence for these ingredients doesn't cover that particular purpose.

The evidence for haritaki's effectiveness isn't established in our data. We hold insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for obesity, high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), high blood pressure (hypertension), angina (chest pain from heart strain), or other conditions that the product may be marketed for.

That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means the research we have access to is too limited to make that call.

How safe is it?

Safety Information · database check
Some gaps

Safety data exists for these ingredients, but with some important gaps.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 0 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Haritaki is generally well tolerated in short-term studies, though long-term safety data and product quality vary quite a bit depending on the brand and how it's made. We don't have enough safety information to recommend this product during pregnancy or while breastfeeding — the safety data advises against use in both cases.

If you're planning to become pregnant or you're breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Terminalia.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 934 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking Haritaki Extract by Herbadiet, double-check whether you're on any drugs that depend on CYP2D6, CYP2C9, or CYP3A4 enzymes — that includes many antidepressants, beta-blockers, blood pressure medications, and statins. Also check if you take blood thinners (anticoagulants) or antiplatelet drugs like aspirin, diabetes medications, chlorzoxazone (a muscle relaxer), or omeprazole (a heartburn medication).

All of these interactions are documented as Moderate severity. Use the medication search tool on this page to verify your specific prescriptions.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.

Haritaki Extract may be worth considering if you're interested in traditional herbal support for heart health or metabolism — but the evidence for effectiveness is thin. The bigger question is whether it'll interact with your medications, since it affects how your liver processes multiple drug types.

Before you take this, check your exact medications using the tool on this page, and run the results by your pharmacist.

Haritaki Extract by Herbadiet: Common Questions

Does Haritaki Extract by Herbadiet interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Haritaki Extract has a known interaction with 933 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Haritaki Extract contains 2 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this while I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
The safety data advises against it. We don't have enough information to say it's safe in either case. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
What exactly is haritaki?
Haritaki — also called Terminalia — is a dried fruit used traditionally in Ayurvedic medicine. This product delivers it as an extract, which concentrates its active compounds into capsule form.
How long can I safely take this?
We have good short-term safety data from studies, but we don't have reliable information on long-term use. Product quality also varies by brand. If you're planning to take it for weeks or months, ask your pharmacist about what to watch for.
Does haritaki actually work for high cholesterol or high blood pressure?
The evidence we have is too limited to say either way. Right now, we hold insufficient reliable evidence to rate haritaki for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, weight management, or other conditions it's sometimes marketed for.
What are the side effects?
We don't have documented adverse effects from the trials in our data. That said, if you're on medications that this product interacts with, the main concern is that your drugs could reach higher levels in your blood — not side effects from the supplement itself.
