Hesperidin Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Hesperidin against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Hesperidin by Earthborn Elements
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product is just one active ingredient: hesperidin, a bioflavonoid (a type of plant compound) that's also found in citrus fruits. The capsule itself is made from gelatin.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The research on hesperidin for the conditions commonly marketed doesn't support its use right now. For obesity and high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia), the evidence rates as possibly ineffective.
For fatty liver disease (nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, or NAFLD), there isn't enough reliable evidence in our data to rate it either way.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Hesperidin is generally well tolerated in the amounts found in food and in short-term supplement use, but we don't have high-quality long-term safety data. The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding — there isn't enough information to know it's safe in those situations.
One case of allergic skin irritation was reported when a hesperidin product was applied topically to skin.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this, check with your pharmacist if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (increased bleeding risk), sedating medications like diazepam (added drowsiness), blood pressure medications (risk of pressure dropping further), calcium channel blockers like verapamil or diltiazem (higher drug levels), or the beta-blocker celiprolol (reduced effectiveness). All of these are documented interactions — none confirmed in humans yet, but based on solid lab and animal evidence.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Hesperidin is primarily used for research purposes rather than established health benefits — the evidence for obesity, cholesterol, and liver disease is weak or absent. If you take blood thinners, sedating medications, blood pressure drugs, or certain heart medications, you'll need to check with your pharmacist before adding this.

Hesperidin by Earthborn Elements Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Hesperidin by Earthborn Elements has documented interactions with a number of medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs — hesperidin may increase bleeding risk when combined with them, because animal research suggests it has antiplatelet activity.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
It can also affect how your body handles sedating medications (CNS depressants): animal studies show hesperidin itself has sedative effects and can add to drowsiness when used with drugs like diazepam, though this hasn't been seen in people yet. Blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs) are another category to watch — hesperidin may lower blood pressure further, though the evidence is mixed and some clinical studies show no effect on pressure at all.
Three other drug types need checking before you start: calcium channel blockers (verapamil and diltiazem), where hesperidin may raise their levels in your bloodstream; P-glycoprotein substrates, a broad class where hesperidin might increase drug levels; and celiprolol, a specific beta-blocker where hesperidin may reduce how well it works. All of these interactions are theoretical based on lab or animal evidence and haven't been confirmed in humans.
Altogether, these interactions span 694 individual medications.

For each ingredient in Hesperidin with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Hesperidin
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, hesperidin may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Animal research suggests that hesperetin, a bioflavonoid aglycone derivative of hesperidin, may have antiplatelet activity.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, taking hesperidin with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Some clinical and animal research shows that hesperidin can decrease blood pressure. However, other clinical research shows that hesperidin does not affect blood pressure.
Celiprolol (Celicard)
Theoretically, hesperidin may decrease the levels and clinical effects of celiprolol.
Animal research shows that concomitant use of hesperidin may reduce the plasma area under the curve of celiprolol by up to 75%. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, concomitant use with CNS depressants may cause additive sedative effects.
Animal studies show that hesperidin has sedative effects, due to opioid receptor activity and can increase sedation when used with diazepam. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Diltiazem (Cardizem, Others)
Theoretically, hesperidin may increase the levels and clinical effects of diltiazem.
Animal research suggests that hesperidin may enhance the bioavailability of diltiazem, increasing the plasma area under the curve of diltiazem by up to 65.3%. This effect has not been reported in humans.
P-Glycoprotein Substrates
Theoretically, hesperidin might inhibit P-glycoprotein-mediated drug efflux and potentially increase levels of drugs that are substrates of P-glycoprotein.
In vitro research shows that hesperidin can inhibit P-glycoprotein efflux. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Verapamil (Calan, Others)
Theoretically, hesperidin might increase the levels and clinical effects of verapamil.
Animal research suggests that hesperidin may enhance the bioavailability of verapamil, increasing the plasma area under the curve of verapamil by 96.8%. This effect has not been reported in humans
