HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Max DHA Krill Oil by NS Natural Stacks
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This supplement contains 4 active ingredients focused on omega-3 support. The main players are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) — both omega-3 fatty acids sourced from krill oil — plus esterified astaxanthin, a carotenoid (plant pigment) that acts as an antioxidant.
The product also lists total omega-3 fatty acids and phospholipids as active components. Beyond these, you'll find krill oil and tuna oil as part of the softgel capsule base.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
Evidence for astaxanthin's effectiveness is not established in our data. The facts note insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for age-related cognitive decline, macular degeneration, aging skin, Alzheimer's disease, athletic performance, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
We hold no effectiveness ratings for the other three active ingredients in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Astaxanthin is generally well tolerated in studies, though long-term safety data are limited. The most common side effects reported are abdominal pain, diarrhea, and red-colored stools.
A small number of trial participants experienced increased bowel movements or red stool color at standard doses, and at much higher doses (40 mg daily) severe stomach pain was reported in two patients. Safety data for astaxanthin are insufficient during pregnancy and breastfeeding — the facts advise against use in both.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check any medications you take that are processed by the liver enzyme CYP3A4 — astaxanthin may lower their blood levels (moderate severity). Also verify drugs broken down by CYP2B6, which may be affected the same way.
We could not check the three other active ingredients against our database, so use the search tool below for your full medication list.
The bottom line

This krill oil supplement pairs omega-3 fatty acids with astaxanthin, an antioxidant whose benefits aren't yet established in reliable evidence. If you take medications metabolized by your liver — especially those broken down by CYP3A4 or CYP2B6 — run them through our checker first.

Max DHA Krill Oil by NS Natural Stacks Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Max DHA Krill Oil by NS Natural Stacks contains esterified astaxanthin, which has documented interactions with certain medications.
The most serious concern is with drugs metabolized by the liver enzyme CYP3A4 — astaxanthin may lower their blood levels, potentially reducing effectiveness. This is a moderate-severity interaction based on lab research, though it hasn't been confirmed in humans yet.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
You'll also want to check if you take any medications broken down by another liver enzyme, CYP2B6. Astaxanthin may decrease their levels as well, though again this is theoretical and hasn't been reported in people.
Three other active ingredients in this product — eicosapentaenoic acid, docosahexaenoic acid, and phospholipids — we could not check against our database. Altogether, these interactions span 661 individual medications.
