Carob is a naturally sweet pod used for diarrhea, and anise fruit oil is included for additional herbal benefit. The product also contains several inactive ingredients—dextrose, stearic acid, microcrystalline cellulose, silica, artificial flavor, magnesium stearate, calcium silicate, riboflavin, and pharmaceutical glaze—which serve as fillers, binders, and capsule materials.

Moderate evidence
Honey is possibly effective for cold sores, cough, oral mucositis (sores inside the mouth), burns, and dry eye, based on clinical evidence. Bee propolis is possibly effective for oral mucositis, cold sores, and diabetes, though the evidence for dengue fever is insufficient to rate.
Carob is possibly effective for diarrhea, but evidence for athletic performance, diabetes support, and familial hypercholesterolemia (a genetic cholesterol condition) is insufficient to rate. Anise fruit oil's effectiveness for migraine headache, lice, menopausal symptoms, or premenstrual syndrome and dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain) lacks sufficient evidence in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Honey is generally well tolerated in adults and children over 1 year old. The most common side effects are nausea, stomach pain, and vomiting when taken by mouth, and burning, pain, or stinging when applied to the skin.
Honey is rated likely safe in pregnancy and during breastfeeding when eaten as food, though you should talk with your provider before using it medicinally. Avoid honey from the Black Sea region of Turkey, which may contain grayanotoxins (natural poisons from rhododendrons) that can cause serious heart problems.
Bee propolis is generally well tolerated short-term, but headache occurs in roughly 7% of people taking it at typical doses. Allergic reactions, including severe ones, are possible, especially in people sensitive to bee products.
Propolis is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to insufficient safety data—discuss with your provider. Carob is safe as a food but lacks study at high supplement doses; avoid it in preterm infants (it's been linked to serious bowel infection).
Anise fruit oil is generally well tolerated as a food or tea but should be avoided at medicinal doses during pregnancy. Allergic reactions including contact dermatitis and, rarely, anaphylaxis have been reported.

Honey and propolis both affect how your liver breaks down many common medications. Honey may theoretically increase phenytoin (Dilantin) levels, a moderate-severity concern.
Propolis theoretically affects five major enzyme systems (CYP2C19, CYP2D6, CYP1A2, CYP2C9, and CYP3A4 substrates) all at moderate severity—meaning it could theoretically raise blood levels of drugs processed through these pathways, though animal studies at typical doses showed no significant effect. Both honey and propolis carry a minor-to-moderate risk of increased bleeding with blood thinners (anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs).
Anise fruit oil introduces additional moderate-severity interactions: theoretically it may interfere with estrogens and contraceptive drugs, increase low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) risk with diabetes medications, and affect how your body handles fluoxetine (Prozac), caffeine, codeine, diazepam (Valium), and imipramine (Tofranil)—though most of these are from animal research with unclear human relevance.
Carob carries a minor interaction: it may reduce absorption of oral medications, so take carob 30–60 minutes after your drugs. We could not check molasses for interactions.

Carob
Oral Drugs
Theoretically, carob might also impair the absorption of oral drugs.
Laboratory research shows that carob, when consumed as part of the diet or used as a thickening agent in infant formula, reduces the absorption of certain minerals. Take carob 30-60 minutes after oral medications.
Bee Propolis
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, propolis might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
In vitro research shows that propolis water extract and the propolis constituent, caffeic acid phenethyl ester, can inhibit platelet aggregation. Additionally, evidence from an animal model shows that taking propolis in addition to warfarin decreases INR, suggesting that propolis can decrease the effectiveness of warfarin.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, high doses of propolis might increase blood levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that propolis extract can inhibit CYP1A2. However, animal research shows that propolis extract does not significantly affect CYP1A2 activity when administered to rats at doses up to 250 mg/kg. It is postulated that the constituents of propolis that inhibit CYP1A2 in vitro do not have significant effects in vivo due to low bioavailability and hepatic first-pass effect. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, high doses of propolis might increase blood levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
In vitro research shows that propolis extract can inhibit CYP2C19. However, animal research shows that propolis extract does not significantly affect CYP2C19 activity when administered to rats at doses up to 250 mg/kg. It is postulated that the constituents of propolis that inhibit CYP2C19 in vitro do not have significant effects in vivo due to low bioavailability and hepatic first-pass effect. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Theoretically, high doses of propolis might increase blood levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some in vitro research shows that propolis extract can inhibit CYP3A4; however, other in vitro research shows that propolis has no effect on CYP3A4 activity. Furthermore, animal research shows that propolis extract does not significantly affect CYP3A4 activity when administered to rats at doses up to 250 mg/kg. It is postulated that the constituents of propolis that might in inhibit CYP3A4 in vitro do not have significant effects in vivo due to low bioavailability and hepatic first-pass effect. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Theoretically, propolis might decrease the effectiveness of warfarin.
Animal research shows that taking propolis in addition to warfarin decreases the international normalized ratio (INR). This effect has not been reported in humans.
Honey
Phenytoin (Dilantin)
Theoretically, honey might increase levels of phenytoin.
In an animal model, the rate and extent of absorption of phenytoin was increased by honey. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, honey may increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro, honey inhibits platelet aggregation and increases the time to clotting. Furthermore, animal research suggests that feeding mice large doses of honey for 12 days increases bleeding time when compared with no intervention. However, these effects have not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, honey might decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4, but research is conflicting.
Some clinical research shows that honey induces CYP3A4. However, other clinical studies found no effect on CYP3A4 activity. Different honey preparations may have different effects on CYP3A4.
Anise fruit Oil
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, anise seed might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
A small clinical study shows that anise seed powder decreases fasting blood glucose levels by 36% when compared to baseline.
Caffeine
Theoretically, anise oil might decrease the efficacy of caffeine.
Animal research shows that taking anise oil with caffeine decreases the bioavailability of caffeine. Whether this interaction will occur in humans is unclear.
Codeine
Theoretically, anise oil might increase the effects and adverse effects of codeine.
Animal research shows that anise oil increases the analgesic effects of codeine, possibly by inducing its phase I metabolism and increasing conversion to morphine. Whether this interaction occurs in humans is unclear.
Contraceptive Drugs
Theoretically, anise might interfere with contraceptive drug therapy.
Some in vitro research suggests that anise has estrogenic effects, while other in vitro research suggests that anise has antiestrogenic effects.
Diazepam (Valium)
Theoretically, anise oil might increase the effects and adverse effects of diazepam.
Animal research shows that taking anise oil with diazepam increases the motor impairment associated with diazepam, possibly by inhibiting its breakdown by cytochrome P450 3A4. Whether this interaction occurs in humans is unclear.
Estrogens
Theoretically, anise might interfere with estrogen-based hormone replacement therapy.
Some in vitro research suggests that anise has estrogenic effects, while other in vitro research suggests that anise has antiestrogenic effects.
Fluoxetine (Prozac)
Theoretically, anise oil might decrease the efficacy of fluoxetine.
Animal research shows that taking anise oil with fluoxetine reduces the antidepressant effects of fluoxetine, possibly by promoting its breakdown by cytochrome P450 2D6. Whether this interaction occurs in humans is unclear.
Imipramine (Tofranil)
Theoretically, anise oil might decrease the efficacy of imipramine.
Animal research shows that taking anise oil with imipramine reduces the antidepressant effects of imipramine, possibly by promoting its breakdown by cytochrome P450 2D6. Whether this interaction occurs in humans is unclear.
Midazolam (Versed)
Theoretically, anise oil might increase the effects and adverse effects of midazolam.
Animal research shows that taking anise oil with midazolam increases the motor impairment associated with midazolam, possibly by inhibiting its breakdown by cytochrome P450 3A4. Whether this interaction occurs in humans is unclear.
Tamoxifen (Nolvadex)
Theoretically, anise might interfere with tamoxifen therapy.
Some in vitro research suggests that anise has estrogenic effects, while other in vitro research suggests that anise has antiestrogenic effects.
Acetaminophen (Tylenol, Others)
Theoretically, anise oil might decrease the levels and clinical effects of acetaminophen.
Animal research shows that taking anise oil with acetaminophen decreases peak plasma levels of acetaminophen but does not reduce overall bioavailability. Whether this interaction will occur in humans is unclear.
