Hormone Protect Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by XYMOGEN
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Hormone Protect against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Hormone Protect by XYMOGEN
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Hormone Protect contains two active ingredients. The first is diindolylmethane, which is the ingredient with documented interactions and safety notes on this page.
The second is glucoraphanin, but the data we hold does not describe its role in this product, and we cannot check it for interactions. The product also lists five inactive ingredients: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, silica, and microcrystalline cellulose.
These are fillers and capsule-making materials, not active ingredients.
Does it work?
Not established
Diindolylmethane has been studied for benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), breast cancer, colorectal cancer, cervical dysplasia (abnormal cervical cells), and mastalgia (breast pain). For each of these, the reliable evidence we hold is insufficient to rate its effectiveness.
We hold no effectiveness rating for glucoraphanin, so its benefits are not established in the data we have.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Diindolylmethane is generally well tolerated in short-term studies, but its long-term safety is not well established. Common side effects include diarrhea, gas, headache, nausea, rash, and vomiting.
Serious reactions are rare and include drug rash with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS). One case report describes an ischemic stroke in a 38-year-old woman who was taking 200 mg of diindolylmethane daily along with other supplements.
It is unclear whether diindolylmethane contributed, since she had other stroke risk factors. The safety data advises against using diindolylmethane while breastfeeding because reliable information is not available.
Its pregnancy entry lists it as likely safe. We hold no pregnancy or breastfeeding data for glucoraphanin.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Double-check estrogens (Moderate) and diuretic drugs (Moderate) before taking this product, since these carry the most serious documented severity. CYP1A2 substrates are a Minor interaction.
Glucoraphanin could not be checked, so we hold no interaction data for it. Your own doctor or pharmacist can review your full medication list.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Hormone Protect may interest someone looking for a diindolylmethane supplement, but the evidence for its uses is not established. People who take estrogen therapy, diuretics, or medications cleared by the CYP1A2 liver enzyme should be especially careful.
Breastfeeding is a reason to avoid it, according to the safety data. Talk it over with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting.

Hormone Protect by XYMOGEN Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Hormone Protect by XYMOGEN interacts with some medications, and the interaction comes from its diindolylmethane content.
The most serious interaction is with estrogens (Moderate). Diindolylmethane might increase or decrease estrogen's effects, and it might have mild estrogenic or antiestrogenic effects.
In theory, large amounts could interfere with hormone replacement therapy.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Diindolylmethane may also affect diuretic drugs (Moderate), which are water pills. Used with sodium-depleting diuretics, it might raise the risk of low blood sodium (hyponatremia).
In clinical research, two people taking 600 mg daily had low sodium without symptoms. It may also affect drugs cleared by the CYP1A2 liver enzyme (Minor).
Lab evidence suggests it could speed up how those drugs are cleared, which might lower their levels, but this has not been reported in humans. Altogether, these interactions span 269 individual medications.
We could not check glucoraphanin, so we hold no interaction data for it. Search your exact medications with the search tool on this page, and talk with your own doctor or pharmacist before combining this product with any prescription.

Diindolylmethane
Diuretic Drugs
Theoretically, diindolylmethane might increase the risk of hyponatremia if used with sodium-depleting diuretics.
Large doses of diindolylmethane (600 mg daily) have been associated with two cases of asymptomatic hyponatremia in clinical research.
Estrogens
Theoretically, diindolylmethane might increase or decrease the effects of estrogens.
Diindolylmethane might have mild estrogenic or antiestrogenic effects. Theoretically, large amounts of diindolylmethane might interfere with hormone replacement therapy.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, diindolylmethane might lower serum levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro evidence suggests that diindolylmethane can induce CYP1A2. Theoretically, it might increase metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates and lower serum concentrations. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
