Isatis 6 Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Isatis 6 against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Low disclosure
Isatis 6 contains six active ingredients rooted in traditional Chinese medicine: Da Qing Ye, hu zhang (Japanese knotweed), Xia Ku Cao (self-heal), Bai Hua She She Cao, andrographis (Chuan Xin Lian), and honeysuckle (Jin Yin Hua). Hu zhang is thought to support liver function and contains resveratrol, an antioxidant.
Andrographis has been studied for immune and inflammatory support. Self-heal, honeysuckle, and the other ingredients are traditionally used to address various aspects of immune and respiratory wellness.
There are no inactive ingredients listed for this product.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence we hold is limited. Andrographis shows "possibly effective" ratings for ulcerative colitis, tonsillopharyngitis, and osteoarthritis—meaning some clinical support exists, though it's not conclusive.
For hu zhang, self-heal, honeysuckle, and the other ingredients in this formula, the evidence for their individual uses (hepatitis, rheumatoid arthritis, wound healing, gout, respiratory infections, and others) is rated insufficient—we don't yet have reliable data to confirm they work for these purposes. This product is a traditional formula; if you're looking for it to address a specific health concern, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist to see if the evidence supports that use.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Andrographis is generally well tolerated in the short term, though long-term safety isn't well established. At higher doses or longer use, it may cause nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, headache, fatigue, dizziness, rash, or itching; rare severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, have been reported.
Hu zhang may cause digestive upset due to its emodin content. Self-heal and honeysuckle have limited human safety data but are traditionally used as foods and teas; self-heal has been reported to cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and allergic reactions in sensitive people, and honeysuckle has caused contact dermatitis and allergic drug eruptions in isolated cases.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Andrographis is rated possibly unsafe in pregnancy due to theoretical and animal concerns about reproductive effects, so avoid it if you are or may be pregnant. Hu zhang, self-heal, and honeysuckle all lack enough safety data in pregnancy and breastfeeding—the facts advise against them during these times.
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Isatis 6, double-check with your pharmacist or doctor if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin or aspirin)—hu zhang, andrographis, and honeysuckle may increase bleeding risk. Also verify if you're on blood pressure medications, immune suppressants, estrogen replacement, or liver enzyme substrates (including many cholesterol drugs, some cancer medications, and others), as hu zhang and andrographis may affect how these work.
If you take carbamazepine (Tegretol), diabetes medications, or certain pain relievers like celecoxib (Celebrex), those interactions should be reviewed as well.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Isatis 6 is a traditional herbal formula with limited high-quality evidence for its intended uses and moderate interaction risks, especially if you take blood thinners, blood pressure medications, immune-suppressing drugs, or medications processed through certain liver enzymes. Andrographis carries pregnancy safety concerns.
If you're considering this product—particularly if you take any regular medications, are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a bleeding disorder—discuss it with your doctor or pharmacist first to make sure it fits your situation.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Isatis 6 by Seven Forests does interact with medications, primarily through its hu zhang, andrographis (Chuan Xin Lian), and honeysuckle (Jin Yin Hua) content.
The most serious interactions are moderate-severity concerns: hu zhang may raise blood levels of drugs metabolized by three major liver enzymes (CYP1A2, CYP2C19, and CYP3A4), and both hu zhang and andrographis may increase bleeding risk if you take blood thinners (anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs).
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Andrographis also carries moderate-severity risks with blood pressure medications—it may lower your blood pressure further—and with immune-suppressing drugs, which it may interfere with. Honeysuckle shares the bleeding concern with anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents.
Additionally, hu zhang may theoretically interfere with estrogen replacement therapy, and andrographis may alter how your body processes certain diabetes and pain medications, though the clinical significance of these changes isn't yet clear. There is also a minor concern with carbamazepine (Tegretol) and hu zhang.
We could not check two ingredients—Da Qing Ye and Bai Hua She She Cao—because we hold no interaction data for them. Self-heal (Xia Ku Cao) was checked and shows no documented interactions with medications.
Altogether, these interactions span 1,058 individual medications. Use the search tool below to verify your exact drugs before starting this product.

Hu Zhang
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, hu zhang might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. Resveratrol seems to have antiplatelet effects.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, hu zhang might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. In vitro research shows that resveratrol might inhibit the CYP1A2 enzyme. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, hu zhang might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. In vitro research shows that resveratrol might inhibit the CYP2C19 enzyme. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates
Theoretically, hu zhang might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2E1.
Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. In vitro research shows that resveratrol might inhibit the CYP2E1 enzyme. Also, a pharmacokinetic study shows that taking resveratrol 500 mg daily for 10 days prior to taking a single dose of chlorzoxazone 250 mg increases the maximum concentration of chlorzoxazone by about 54%, the area under the curve of chlorzoxazone by about 72%, and the half-life of chlorzoxazone by about 35%. Chlorzoxazone is used as a probe drug for CYP2E1.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, hu zhang might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. In vitro research shows that resveratrol might inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, a clinical study in adults with NAFLD found that adding resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks did not necessitate dose adjustments to any established medications metabolized by CYP3A4.
Estrogens
Theoretically, hu zhang might competitively inhibit the effects of estrogen replacement therapy.
In vitro research shows that hu zhang might have estrogenic activity.
Carbamazepine (Tegretol)
Theoretically, hu zhang might increase the effects and adverse effects of carbamazepine.
In animals, blood and tissue levels of carbamazepine were increased when given in combination with hu zhang. It is thought that increased levels of carbamazepine are due to cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) inhibition. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Chuan Xin Lian
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, andrographis might increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Animal and laboratory studies suggest that andrographis has antiplatelet effects.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, andrographis might increase the risk of hypotension when used with antihypertensive drugs.
Animal research suggests that andrographis has hypotensive effects.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, andrographis might interfere with the effects of immunosuppressive drugs.
Laboratory research suggests that andrographolide has immunostimulant activity.
Celecoxib (Celebrex)
Theoretically, andrographis extract might increase the maximum concentration and time to peak concentration of celecoxib. The clinical significance of these changes is unclear.
Animal research suggests that andrographis extract taken orally increases the maximum concentration and time to peak concentration of celecoxib but does not appear to impact the area under the curve.
Etoricoxib (Arcoxia)
Theoretically, andrographis might decrease the absorption of etoricoxib, although the clinical significance is unclear.
Animal research shows that andrographis extract, or the constituent andrographolide, taken orally with etoricoxib decreases the bioavailability of etoricoxib. However, this reduced bioavailability is not correlated with a reduction in the anti-inflammatory effects of etoricoxib in arthritic mice models. The clinical significance of this interaction is unclear.
Glipizide (Glucotrol)
Theoretically, andrographis extract might increase the maximum concentration and area under the curve of glipizide; however, opposite effects are seen with the constituent, andrographolide. The clinical significance of this interaction is unclear.
Animal research suggests that andrographis extract taken orally with glipizide in diabetes-induced rats increases the maximum concentration and area under the curve of glipizide. However, the opposite effect is seen with the constituent, andrographolide, in which the maximum concentration and area under the curve are decreased when taken with glipizide.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, honeysuckle might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research shows that polyphenols extracted from honeysuckle can inhibit platelet aggregation.
