Devil's claw and stinging nettle are generally well tolerated for short-term use, though devil's claw can cause digestive upset (diarrhea, indigestion reported in 8–18% of users in some trials), and stinging nettle may cause constipation or diarrhea. Sarsaparilla, prickly ash, and burdock have limited human safety data; burdock is well tolerated as a food but rare allergic reactions including anaphylaxis and contact dermatitis have been reported, and one case of liver injury has been documented (though other ingredients may have contributed).
