Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: English Walnut (Juglans regia) bud extract. The liquid also includes glycerin, ethanol, and purified water as inactive ingredients that help deliver the extract.

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed

This product doesn't appear to be marketed for a specific use, so we graded English Walnut's overall clinical evidence instead.

Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports English Walnut for:

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.
  • Since the label doesn't commit to one use, we graded the ingredient's overall clinical evidence instead.
  • On file: Hypercholesterolemia — rated "Possibly Effective" (Natural Medicines).

The data shows English Walnut is possibly effective for high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia). For coronary heart disease and diabetes, the evidence isn't established well enough to rate — we simply don't have reliable data yet on whether it helps with those conditions.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

English Walnut, when consumed as whole food, is generally well tolerated. The most common side effects are mild — softening of stools and mild bloating.

If you have a tree nut allergy, this is important: walnuts can cause serious allergic reactions, including oral allergy syndrome (itching in your mouth right after you consume it) and, rarely, swelling of your lips and tongue (angioedema). The safety of concentrated supplements like this one hasn't been well studied, so caution is warranted if you're sensitive.

One study found that walnut leaf extract caused mild diarrhea in about 39% of adults who used it daily. Pregnancy and lactation data show conflicting ratings — one entry says likely safe, another says possibly unsafe — so talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance if you're pregnant or nursing.

No known interactions

No medication interactions are currently documented for the matched ingredients — that isn't a guarantee none exist.

Why this rating?
  • None of the 1 matched ingredient has a documented medication interaction on file.

No interactions are documented in our data for the ingredient we could check. Still, check your exact medications with the search tool on this page or ask your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.

If you have high cholesterol and no tree nut allergy, this product may be worth discussing with your doctor. If you do have a walnut or tree nut allergy, skip it — the risk of an allergic reaction outweighs any potential benefit.

Either way, run it past your own pharmacist or doctor before you start.

Juglans Regia by UNDA Gemmo: Common Questions

Does Juglans Regia by UNDA Gemmo interact with any medications?
We do not currently list a known interaction for the mapped ingredients in Juglans Regia. This does not guarantee none exist, so confirm with your pharmacist.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Juglans Regia contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I have a tree nut allergy?
No. Walnuts are tree nuts and can cause serious allergic reactions in people with this allergy, including mouth itching, and rarely, swelling of the lips and tongue. Skip this product if you're allergic to tree nuts.
What side effects should I expect?
Most people who take it feel fine. The most common mild effects are softening of stools and mild bloating. Walnut leaf extract has been reported to cause mild diarrhea in some people, especially with daily use.
Does this work for high cholesterol?
The data shows it's possibly effective for high cholesterol. That means there's some evidence it may help, but it's not a substitute for diet changes, exercise, or prescription medications your doctor prescribes.
Is it safe to take while pregnant or nursing?
The data we hold shows conflicting information — one rating says likely safe, another says possibly unsafe. Because of this conflict, talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice before taking it during pregnancy or while nursing.
What is bud extract, and why use it instead of whole walnut?
Bud extract is a concentrated form made from walnut buds. The safety of concentrated supplements like this hasn't been well studied, so this product should be used with more caution than whole walnuts as food.
