What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: L-Taurine, an amino acid your body produces naturally and also gets from animal proteins and some plant sources. The capsule shell is made from vegetable cellulose.
Does it work?
Insufficient evidence
L-Taurine is possibly effective for hepatitis and possibly effective for congestive heart failure (CHF). It's rated possibly ineffective for weight loss.
The evidence for each use is limited, so talk with your doctor about whether it's right for your specific situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L-Taurine is generally well tolerated in typical doses for up to a year. The most common side effects are constipation, diarrhea, and indigestion.
Rare serious side effects include allergic reactions — especially in people with a history of sulfa or sulfite sensitivities. Long-term safety beyond one year is less certain, and supplement doses haven't been studied as thoroughly as we'd like, so use it only under medical guidance.
For pregnancy and lactation, the safety rating is likely safe, though supplement safety during breastfeeding is not well studied — taurine does occur naturally in breast milk. If you're pregnant or nursing and want to take this, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking L-Taurine, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood pressure medications or lithium. Both interactions are Moderate severity — taurine could lower your blood pressure further or raise lithium levels in your blood.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with insufficient evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
L-Taurine may help with hepatitis or heart failure, but the evidence is modest. If you take blood pressure medication or lithium, you'll need to clear this with your doctor or pharmacist first.
Even if you don't take those drugs, talk it over with your own healthcare provider to make sure it fits your needs.

L-Taurine by Herbadiet Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
L-Taurine by Herbadiet can interact with certain medications.
The main concern is with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives) and lithium — a mood-stabilizing drug used for bipolar disorder.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
With blood pressure medications, taurine may increase the effect and lower your blood pressure further than intended. Some clinical evidence shows taurine can reduce both systolic and diastolic pressure on its own, so combining it with a blood pressure drug could push levels too low.
With lithium, taurine is thought to have mild diuretic properties that might reduce how your kidneys clear the drug, potentially raising lithium levels in your blood — a concern because lithium has a narrow therapeutic window.
Altogether, these interactions span 173 individual medications. If you take a blood pressure medication or lithium, check your exact drugs with the search tool on this page before starting this supplement, and run it by your doctor or pharmacist first.
