Phosphatidyl choline shows possibly effective evidence for ulcerative colitis (a type of inflammatory bowel disease). For nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, alcohol-related liver disease, and Alzheimer disease, the evidence is insufficient to say whether it works.
Choline is rated possibly ineffective for athletic performance, and for most other uses in our data—bronchitis, age-related cognitive decline, and hay fever—there isn't enough reliable evidence to know either way. How safe is it?

Phosphatidyl choline is generally well tolerated, though high doses can cause digestive upset. Common side effects at normal doses are rare, but altered taste, bloating, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting have been reported.
Choline is well tolerated at food amounts, but high-dose supplements can cause a fishy body odor, and doses of 9 grams daily or higher may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and sweating. This product's dose of choline is much lower than those high-dose thresholds.
Choline is an important nutrient during pregnancy and while breastfeeding, but the safety of supplement doses—beyond what's in food—beyond food isn't fully studied. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor before starting this product.
