What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Mood & Stress Probiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Mood & Stress Probiotic by Renew Life
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains 2 active ingredients: Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus helveticus, both live probiotic bacteria designed to support your gut microbiome and potentially help with mood and stress. The inactive ingredients are potato starch, magnesium stearate, and a capsule shell.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for both Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus helveticus is limited. For Bifidobacterium longum, there isn't enough reliable evidence to rate it for age-related cognitive decline, allergic rhinitis (hay fever), antibiotic-associated diarrhea, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), asthma, or athletic performance.
Similarly, Lactobacillus helveticus shows insufficient reliable evidence for allergic rhinitis, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, cognitive function, depression, rotaviral diarrhea, or exercise-induced respiratory infections. The bottom line: we don't yet have strong data to confirm what this product can do for the conditions it targets.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Both probiotics are generally well tolerated in healthy people, but if you're seriously ill or have a weakened immune system, talk with your doctor before taking this product — the safety data for those situations are limited. Rare gastrointestinal side effects have been reported with Bifidobacterium longum, including abdominal discomfort, flatulence, constipation, and distension.
There's also a rare case report of a dry cough. In very rare and serious cases, both bacteria have been isolated in bloodstream infections, mostly in critically ill or premature infants — a reminder that probiotics carry a small risk in vulnerable populations.
Lactobacillus helveticus is rated possibly safe in pregnancy and lactation, but safety data are limited, so check with your doctor before use.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product alongside antibiotic drugs. Both Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus helveticus can lose effectiveness if antibiotics kill the live organisms — timing them separately (usually a few hours apart) can help prevent that.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic may appeal to you if you're looking to support gut health alongside mood and stress — but the evidence that it works for these purposes isn't yet strong. If you take antibiotics, you'll need to space them away from this product so the antibiotics don't kill off the live bacteria.
If you're seriously ill, immunocompromised, pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

Mood & Stress Probiotic by Renew Life Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Renew Life's Mood & Stress Probiotic contains two live probiotic bacteria — Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus helveticus — that both interact with antibiotic drugs.
The most serious concern is a Moderate-severity interaction: taking either probiotic alongside antibiotics might decrease how well the probiotic works, because antibiotics can kill a significant portion of the live organisms in the product.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Both Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus helveticus are affected by antibiotic drugs in the same way. The fix is straightforward: separate when you take them.
Your doctor or pharmacist can help you time them so the antibiotic and probiotic aren't in your system at the same time.
Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications. Use the medication checker on this page to see if any of your prescriptions or over-the-counter drugs fall into the antibiotic category, then talk with your doctor or pharmacist about spacing them out.
