MYcoMune Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking MYcoMune against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of MYcoMune by Pure Essence MyPure
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
MYcoMune contains six active ingredients—all mushroom extracts in organic form. These are cordyceps militaris, lion's mane, maitake, royal red reishi, chaga, and shiitake.
Each is included for its traditional immune and wellness support properties. The product also contains HPMC, an inert capsule material.
Does it work?
Leans against
The evidence supporting these mushroom extracts is limited. For cordyceps, athletic performance is rated possibly ineffective, and sexual dysfunction, arrhythmia, asthma, lung cancer, and COPD all lack reliable evidence.
Lion's mane, maitake, chaga, and shiitake have insufficient evidence for the conditions they're traditionally used for—including Alzheimer's disease, anxiety, cognitive function, diabetes, cardiovascular health, and cancer. None of these ingredients has established proof of benefit for a specific health outcome in our data.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cordyceps, lion's mane, maitake, chaga, and shiitake are generally well tolerated when used orally, though long-term safety data are limited for most. Common side effects across these ingredients are mild gastrointestinal complaints—abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, and bloating.
Cordyceps may occasionally cause dry mouth or throat discomfort. A rare serious case linked cordyceps use to liver inflammation (hepatitis), though whether cordyceps itself was responsible remains unclear.
Chaga carries a specific risk: excessive consumption can cause kidney problems because it contains high oxalate levels. Shiitake can rarely cause a distinctive skin rash called shiitake dermatitis if raw mushroom is eaten, and inhalation of spores in workers has triggered serious lung allergies.
During pregnancy, the safety data for all five checked ingredients are insufficient, so concentrated supplements should be avoided. The same applies to breastfeeding.
There is no information on file for royal red reishi in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you before conception or while nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking MYcoMune, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take warfarin or other blood thinners (Moderate risk of increased bleeding). Also double-check if you use antiplatelet drugs like aspirin or clopidogrel, diabetes medications, blood pressure drugs, immunosuppressants, or drugs metabolized by the liver enzyme CYP2D6—these interactions are all documented at Moderate severity.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with graded evidence leaning against its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
MYcoMune is a mushroom blend with no established clinical proof of benefit for any condition. If you take blood thinners, diabetes drugs, immunosuppressants, blood pressure medications, or certain psychiatric or heart drugs, you'll want to check this product with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting—several interactions are documented.
Otherwise, the product is generally well tolerated short-term in most people, though long-term safety is understudied.

MYcoMune by Pure Essence MyPure Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
MYcoMune by Pure Essence MyPure contains six mushroom extracts, and through its cordyceps, lion's mane, maitake, chaga, and shiitake content, it interacts with several medication types.
The most serious documented interaction is with warfarin (a blood thinner), where maitake mushroom raised one patient's INR to a dangerous level after just one week of use—a Moderate-severity effect.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Beyond that, all five checked ingredients share interactions with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (aspirin, clopidogrel, and others)—cordyceps, lion's mane, maitake, and chaga may each theoretically increase bleeding risk through effects on platelet function, though human cases haven't been reported. Four of the five—cordyceps, lion's mane, maitake, and chaga—also interact with drugs that suppress your immune system (like azathioprine or cyclosporine); cordyceps may even lower the dose needed.
Three ingredients—lion's mane, maitake, and chaga—interact with diabetes medications by potentially lowering blood sugar further. Maitake also interacts with blood pressure drugs.
Shiitake can theoretically interfere with certain medications broken down by the liver enzyme CYP2D6—a group that includes some antidepressants and heart medications.
We could not check organic Royal Red Reishi Mushroom extract for interactions because no data is on file for it. For your exact medications, use the interaction checker on this page before starting.

Theoretically, chaga might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
In vitro research suggests that certain constituents of chaga stimulate immune function. This has not been reported in humans.
organic Shiitake Mushroom extract
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, shiitake mushroom might decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro studies suggest that the shiitake mushroom extract AHCC might induce the CYP2D6 enzyme. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, taking shiitake mushroom might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy.
In vitro evidence suggests that shiitake mushroom extracts stimulate immune function.
organic Maitake Mushroom extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research shows that taking maitake mushroom polysaccharide (MMP) can lower blood glucose levels in patients with types 2 diabetes.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that maitake mushroom can lower blood pressure.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is limited evidence that maitake mushroom may increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin.
In a case report, a patient previously stabilized on warfarin developed an elevated international normalized ratio (INR) of 5.1 after taking maitake mushroom (Grifron-Pro Maitake D-Fraction) 1 drop/kg daily in three divided doses for one week. The elevated INR resolved after holding warfarin for two days, then reducing the dose by 11%. It is thought that the beta-glucan constituent of maitake mushroom might cause warfarin dissociation from proteins, resulting in increased free warfarin levels and increased warfarin effects.
Organic Cordyceps militaris mushroom extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, cordyceps may increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that cordyceps extract inhibits platelet aggregation and function. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that cordyceps stimulates the immune system. However, limited clinical research suggests that taking cordyceps may lower the necessary therapeutic dose of the immunosuppressant cyclosporine, which suggests that cordyceps may have an immunosuppressive effect.
Testosterone
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps and testosterone might have additive effects.
Animal research suggests that cordyceps can increase testosterone levels. The clinical significance of this finding is unclear.
