The evidence for what these ingredients do is limited. Beta-glucans show likely effectiveness for high cholesterol (dyslipidemia) and heart disease, which is the strongest claim in this blend.
Everything else — from reishi for heart health and altitude sickness, to cordyceps for athletic performance and sexual function, to maitake and agaricus for various conditions — either lacks reliable evidence or shows possibly ineffective results (reishi for cholesterol, for example). Most of the mushrooms here have been rated insufficient evidence, meaning we just don't have enough good studies yet to say whether they work.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Reishi, cordyceps, maitake, zhu ling, and agaricus are generally well tolerated short-term, though long-term safety isn't well studied for most of them. The most common side effects are digestive — diarrhea, nausea, abdominal discomfort — and some people report dizziness, rash, itching, or dry mouth with reishi.
Rare but serious cases of liver damage have been reported with agaricus, especially in people with cancer getting chemotherapy, and one case of cholestatic hepatitis (liver inflammation) was possibly linked to cordyceps. Allergic reactions to these mushrooms are uncommon but have been reported.
Reishi, cordyceps, maitake, zhu ling, and agaricus all lack enough safety data in pregnancy — the facts advise against concentrated supplement doses during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Beta-glucans from food are generally well tolerated, but concentrated supplement safety in pregnancy and breastfeeding isn't well researched.

The most serious documented interaction is between maitake and warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thinner — a patient's blood-thinning level jumped dangerously high after taking maitake for just one week.

Through its reishi, cordyceps, maitake, and beta-glucan content, this product may increase the risk of bleeding if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs like aspirin or clopidogrel (Plavix). Reishi, maitake, and agaricus can lower blood sugar, so if you take diabetes medication, concurrent use might raise the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
Reishi and maitake may also lower blood pressure, which could combine with blood pressure drugs to drop it too far. Cordyceps might interfere with immune-suppressing medications, and beta-glucans may do the same.
Zhu ling (poria mushroom) in this blend can theoretically enhance the effects of sedatives and may interact with drugs that affect acetylcholine, a brain chemical — though these interactions haven't been confirmed in humans. We could not check turkey tails for interactions as no data is on file for it.

Beta-1, 3-Glucan
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, taking beta-glucans with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Clinical research shows that taking beta-glucans may reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure in some hypertensive individuals.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, beta-glucans might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Some clinical research shows that beta-glucans have immunostimulant effects.
Mushroom source
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research shows that taking maitake mushroom polysaccharide (MMP) can lower blood glucose levels in patients with types 2 diabetes.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining maitake mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that maitake mushroom can lower blood pressure.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is limited evidence that maitake mushroom may increase the anticoagulant effects of warfarin.
In a case report, a patient previously stabilized on warfarin developed an elevated international normalized ratio (INR) of 5.1 after taking maitake mushroom (Grifron-Pro Maitake D-Fraction) 1 drop/kg daily in three divided doses for one week. The elevated INR resolved after holding warfarin for two days, then reducing the dose by 11%. It is thought that the beta-glucan constituent of maitake mushroom might cause warfarin dissociation from proteins, resulting in increased free warfarin levels and increased warfarin effects.
