Natto Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Natto against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Natto by Theramedix BioSET
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains eight ingredients: four digestive enzymes (amylase, protease, lipase, and cellulase), plus glucoamylase, a mineral blend, nattokinase blend (an enzyme derived from fermented soybean), and bromelain (an enzyme from pineapple). The first six are inactive fillers and enzyme cofactors in this formulation.
The two active compounds — nattokinase and bromelain — are the ones with documented interactions and effects on your body.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence supporting these ingredients is limited. Nattokinase has insufficient reliable evidence for angina, atherosclerosis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Bromelain similarly shows insufficient evidence for allergic rhinitis, burns, cancer, chemotherapy-related nerve damage, chronic venous insufficiency, and diabetes. Lipase is listed with insufficient evidence for inflammatory bowel disease and indigestion.
We hold no effectiveness data for the other enzymes in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Protease and lipase are generally well tolerated in adults but may cause digestive upset or, rarely, allergic reactions. Bromelain is generally well tolerated short-term, though long-term safety data are sparse; common side effects include diarrhea, gas, and stomach upset.
Nattokinase carries a blood-thinning effect and rare reports of bleeding; people with bleeding risk should be cautious. Occupational exposure to protease and bromelain aerosols (not from this supplement) has caused allergic reactions in some workers.
For pregnancy: protease, lipase, bromelain, and nattokinase all lack sufficient safety data — the facts advise against use during pregnancy. For breastfeeding: all four have limited or unknown safety data, and medical advice is recommended before use.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check before taking this product if you use blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel (Moderate risk of increased bleeding — nattokinase and bromelain both carry this). Also check if you take blood pressure medications (Moderate risk from nattokinase).
If you take tetracycline antibiotics, bromelain may increase how much your body absorbs (Minor risk).
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may appeal to people seeking digestive enzyme support, but its main active compounds — nattokinase and bromelain — interact with blood thinners and blood pressure drugs and carry real bleeding risk. If you take aspirin, warfarin, clopidogrel, or any blood pressure medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it.
It's not appropriate in pregnancy or breastfeeding without medical approval.

Natto by Theramedix BioSET Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Theramedix BioSET Natto contains several enzymes and active compounds.
Through its nattokinase blend and bromelain content, this product carries documented interactions with blood thinners (anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs) and blood pressure medications — the most serious being a case report of brain bleeding in someone who combined nattokinase with aspirin.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Nattokinase may increase bleeding risk with blood thinners like warfarin, clopidogrel, or aspirin (Moderate severity). It may also lower blood pressure when combined with blood pressure medications (Moderate severity).
Bromelain similarly carries a Moderate risk of increased bleeding with anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs, and a Minor risk with tetracycline antibiotics, which it may help your body absorb more readily.
We could not check amylase, cellulase, glucoamylase, or mineral blend — we hold no interaction data for these ingredients. Protease and lipase have no interactions documented in our data.
Before you start this product, run your exact medications through the search tool on this page, especially if you take any blood thinners, aspirin, or blood pressure drugs.

For each ingredient in Natto with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Nattokinase Blend
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Nattokinase might increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
Nattokinase has thrombolytic and anticoagulant effects. There is a case report of intracranial hemorrhage in a patient who added nattokinase to aspirin therapy.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, nattokinase might increase the risk of hypotension when used with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research suggests that nattokinase may reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
Bromelain
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Bromelain may have antiplatelet effects and may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
There is one case report of a patient experiencing minor bruising while taking bromelain with naproxen. Bromelain is thought to have antiplatelet activity. Whether this interaction is of concern with topical bromelain is unclear. Interference with coagulation of burn wounds has been reported in a patient receiving bromelain-based enzymatic debridement. However, observational research has found that topical bromelain debridement is not associated with increases or decreases in laboratory markers of coagulation when compared with surgical debridement.
Tetracycline Antibiotics
Theoretically, bromelain might increase levels of tetracycline antibiotics.
Laboratory research suggests that bromelain might increase the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics. However, a study in healthy adults reported no difference in tetracycline plasma levels when a 500 mg dose was taken with or without bromelain 80 mg.
