Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: oregano extract. It's a concentrated form of oregano, the familiar culinary herb, but much stronger than what you'd get from seasoning your food.
The powder form also contains dextrin, an inactive ingredient used as a carrier.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for oregano extract isn't established yet. We hold insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for acne, bronchitis, asthma, headache, or upper respiratory tract infections.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work—just that we don't have enough solid research data to say whether it does.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Oregano is generally well tolerated when you use it in food amounts. But concentrated supplement powders like this one are much stronger and haven't been studied as thoroughly, so caution is warranted.
The most common side effect from oral use is gastrointestinal upset. Rare but serious reactions—including allergic reactions and anaphylaxis—have been reported in sensitive people.
Topical use can cause dermatitis in sensitive skin. During pregnancy, avoid medicinal or supplement amounts; food amounts are likely fine.
While breastfeeding, stick to normal food amounts—the safety of supplements isn't established. If you have a history of allergies to oregano or related herbs in the mint family (Lamiaceae), talk to your pharmacist before taking this.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Double-check this product if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel)—it may increase bleeding risk. Also flag it if you're on diabetes medications, since oregano may lower your blood sugar.
Use the medication checker on this page to verify your exact drugs before starting.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Oregano extract might appeal to you if you're interested in herbal options, but keep in mind the evidence for specific conditions isn't solid yet. If you take blood thinners, diabetes medications, or have a known allergy to oregano or mint-family herbs, check with us first.
