Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna), a tree bark traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine. There are no inactive fillers or excipients listed for this powder form.

Does it work?

Not established
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Terminalia's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: heart health and circulation support.
  • We looked for evidence on: Angina, Coronary heart disease (CHD), Heart failure, Hyperlipidemia, Hypertension, Cardiovascular health — and 1 related terms.
  • The closest evidence on file: Terminalia is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Angina (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Terminalia is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Coronary heart disease (CHD), Heart failure, Hyperlipidemia, Hypertension.

The evidence we hold doesn't establish that Arjuna works for the conditions it's marketed for — obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and angina all carry a rating of insufficient reliable evidence. That doesn't mean it doesn't work; it means the studies strong enough to prove it aren't on file yet.

If you're considering it for one of these conditions, talk with your doctor about what the current evidence supports.

How safe is it?

Some data gaps
Safety Information · database check
Some gaps

Safety data exists for these ingredients, but with some important gaps.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 0 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Arjuna is generally well tolerated in short-term studies, but long-term safety data and quality vary across different products. The safety information for pregnancy and breastfeeding is not strong enough to recommend use — the data advises against taking it if you're pregnant or nursing.

If you're in either situation and interested in this herb, talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized guidance.

Moderate interaction found

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Terminalia.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 934 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking this product, double-check with your pharmacist or doctor if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel), diabetes medications, muscle relaxers like chlorzoxazone, heartburn medications like omeprazole, or any drug processed by CYP2D6, CYP2C9, or CYP3A4 enzymes — that last group includes many common blood-pressure, antidepressant, and statin medications.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.

Arjuna powder may be worth considering if you're interested in traditional heart-health support, but it comes with real medication interactions you need to sort out first. If you take any prescription drugs — especially blood thinners, diabetes medications, or anything metabolized by your liver — check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

The evidence for what it actually does isn't established yet, so manage your expectations.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Antidiabetes Drugs

Theoretically, concomitant use of Terminalia bellirica or Terminalia chebula with antidiabetes drugs could affect blood sugar control and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
