Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: lemon powder at 450 mg per serving. Lemon powder is a concentrated form of the juice and peel, and it's what carries any potential therapeutic effects.

The only other ingredient listed is maltodextrin, an inactive filler used to bulk out the powder.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Lemon product and its label doesn't state a use — see Lemon's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for lemon powder isn't established in the data we hold. Our records show insufficient evidence to rate it for allergic rhinitis (hay fever), anxiety, respiratory tract infections, high blood pressure, or kidney stones (nephrolithiasis).

If you're considering this product for one of those purposes, talk with your pharmacist about what the current science actually supports.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Lemon as food is safe for most people in normal amounts — it's something you eat every day without worry. However, the safety notes here distinguish between food lemon and medicinal or concentrated amounts.

Larger doses, especially fresh lemon juice taken regularly, can cause heartburn and stomach upset; one trial found that 21% of people taking 60 mL of fresh lemon juice twice daily reported heartburn and 8% reported upper stomach pain (epigastralgia), compared to much smaller rates in the placebo group. Essential oils and concentrated supplements haven't been well studied and should only be used under a doctor's approval.

Pregnancy and lactation data isn't on file for this ingredient, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant or breastfeeding and want to use it.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Lemon.

Itraconazole (Sporanox)

Theoretically, taking itraconazole capsules or tablets with a beverage containing lemon might increase the levels and clinical effects of itraconazole.
In one case report, dissolving itraconazole tablets in a small amount of specific beverages containing lemon prior to administration increased the level of itraconazole in a lung transplant patient. In this case, the increased bioavailability was desirable and was likely due to improved tablet dissolution in the acidic beverage.

Organic Lemon Powder 450 mg by BulkSupplements.com: Common Questions

Does Organic Lemon Powder 450 mg by BulkSupplements.com interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Organic Lemon Powder 450 mg has a known interaction with 1 medication. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Organic Lemon Powder 450 mg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Will this lemon powder upset my stomach?
It might, especially in larger amounts. One trial found that fresh lemon juice taken regularly caused heartburn in about a fifth of users and stomach pain in about a tenth, compared to much lower rates in people taking a placebo. Start with a small amount and see how you feel.
Can I take this if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
We don't have safety data on file for medicinal amounts of lemon powder in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist — they know your situation and can advise whether it's right for you.
Does this product actually work for hay fever, anxiety, or high blood pressure?
The evidence isn't established yet. We have insufficient reliable evidence to rate lemon powder for any of those conditions. If that's why you're interested, ask your pharmacist what treatments do have solid evidence behind them.
What's the difference between this lemon powder and lemon essential oil?
This is a powder form made from lemon juice and peel. Essential oils are much more concentrated and haven't been well studied in medicinal doses — only use those under a doctor's approval. Regular food-grade lemon is much safer.
Is there anything else in this powder besides lemon?
Yes — there's maltodextrin, which is an inactive filler that helps bulk out the powder. It's not an active ingredient, just a carrier to give you the right serving size.
