What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: wheatgrass powder. Wheatgrass is the young shoot of the wheat plant and is used in wellness products as a concentrated source of plant compounds.
There are no inactive ingredients listed for this product.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we have on wheatgrass is limited. For the conditions listed in our data—bronchitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), beta-thalassemia, cancer, and common cold—we don't have enough reliable evidence to rate how well wheatgrass works.
If you're considering it for a specific health goal, that's worth discussing with your doctor or pharmacist.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Wheatgrass is generally well tolerated as a food, though quality and contamination concerns warrant caution. The most common side effects are allergic reactions, loss of appetite, constipation, and nausea.
Because wheat is a major food allergen in the United States, people with wheat sensitivity should avoid wheatgrass. Safety data for wheatgrass is not fully established, and raw products may carry contamination risk—talk with your doctor before starting it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you use antidiabetes drugs (blood sugar medications)—wheatgrass may lower your blood sugar too much. Also double-check if you take any medications broken down by the liver enzyme CYP1A2, as wheatgrass may reduce how well they work.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Wheatgrass powder may be right for you if you're interested in a plant-based supplement and don't take diabetes medications or drugs broken down by the liver enzyme CYP1A2. If you do take either of those, or if you're allergic to wheat, check with your doctor or pharmacist first.
Even if you don't have those concerns, the evidence for wheatgrass isn't strong enough to make clear claims about what it does, so have that conversation before you start.
