Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: phosphatidylserine, a naturally occurring compound found in cell membranes, particularly in the brain. Phosphatidylserine is thought to support brain cell function and communication.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients — microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, rice flour, L-leucine, and silica — which serve as fillers, binders, and flow agents.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Phosphatidylserine is rated possibly effective for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer disease based on available evidence. For athletic performance, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), cognitive function in general, and dementia, the evidence is insufficient to establish how well it works.
If you're considering it for one of these conditions, talk with your doctor about whether the current evidence supports its use in your particular situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Phosphatidylserine is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth. The most common side effects reported in studies are flatulence, gastrointestinal upset, headache, insomnia, and nausea.
Insomnia is more likely at higher doses (around 600 mg), and gastrointestinal upset can occur at doses of 200–300 mg per day. Long-term safety hasn't been fully established.
The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as there isn't enough information to know it's safe in these situations. If you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this supplement.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take anticholinergic drugs (such as medications for overactive bladder or certain eye conditions) or cholinergic drugs (such as some Alzheimer disease treatments). Both interact at a Moderate level.
No other medication interactions are documented for the ingredients we hold data on.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Phosphatidylserine may be worth considering if you're interested in supporting cognitive health in age-related decline or Alzheimer disease, though the evidence is still developing. If you take anticholinergic or cholinergic medications, you'll want to check with your doctor or pharmacist first — this product could theoretically change how those drugs work.
Avoid it in pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Talk it over with your own healthcare provider before starting.

Phosphatidyl Serine by Progressive Professional from Progressive Laboratories Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Phosphatidyl Serine by Progressive Professional may interact with two medication types: anticholinergic drugs and cholinergic drugs.
The concern centers on phosphatidylserine's ability to raise acetylcholine levels in your body — a neurotransmitter involved in nerve signaling — which can theoretically interfere with how these medications work.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
With anticholinergic drugs (medications that block acetylcholine activity, often used for conditions like overactive bladder, certain types of eye problems, or as motion sickness remedies), phosphatidylserine might decrease effectiveness. With cholinergic drugs (medications that enhance acetylcholine activity, sometimes prescribed for Alzheimer's disease or myasthenia gravis), the supplement could add to their effects.
Both are rated Moderate interactions in severity.
Although these effects are theoretical — meaning they haven't been definitively proven to occur in real patients — the mechanism is plausible enough that caution is warranted. Check your exact medications with the search tool on this page before starting, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you.
