What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: certified organic Pink Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) dried leaf and flower liquid extract. It's formulated with menstruum, a liquid base used in herbal extracts.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for Pink Lotus is not yet established. Our data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for nausea and vomiting, pharyngitis, insomnia, obesity, menorrhagia, or bleeding.
It's sold as a supplement, but human studies backing these uses aren't in the data we hold.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Pink Lotus is common as food, but its safety as a concentrated medicinal supplement hasn't been well studied in humans. The safety data we have advises against using concentrated supplements like this one.
Lotus root can trigger allergic reactions — urticaria (hives) and contact dermatitis have been reported, including in a case of a young child who developed hives after eating lotus root. There isn't enough data on file to know whether it's safe during breastfeeding; talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Pink Lotus, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (aspirin, clopidogrel, warfarin), antidiabetes medications, or the barbiturate pentobarbital. All three categories carry Moderate risk.
The extract may increase bleeding, lower blood sugar too far, or deepen sedation.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Pink Lotus may be worth considering if you're exploring herbal options for sleep, digestion, or blood sugar, but the evidence supporting it isn't yet established in our data. If you take blood thinners, diabetes medications, or pentobarbital, you'll need to check this with your doctor or pharmacist first — the interactions are real and Moderate in severity.
Even if you don't take those drugs, discuss this product with your pharmacist before you start, especially if you have allergies or are breastfeeding.

Pink Lotus by Herbal Terra Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Pink Lotus by Herbal Terra interacts with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (like aspirin and clopidogrel), antidiabetes medications, and the barbiturate pentobarbital — all at Moderate severity.
The active compound here is certified organic Pink Lotus dried leaf and flower liquid extract.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
With blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs, lotus may reduce your platelets' ability to clump together, raising the risk of bleeding. Animal studies show that neferine and isoliensinine — constituents in lotus — inhibit platelet aggregation and the production of clotting factors.
Lotus also appears to lower blood sugar and may work alongside antidiabetes medications, creating a risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Animal research shows the extract enhances insulin's effects and drops glucose levels; you'd need to watch your blood sugar closely and possibly adjust your diabetes medication dose.
Additionally, lotus extract lengthens sleep time from pentobarbital in animal models, which could increase sedation — though we don't know if this happens in humans or affects other sedatives or barbiturates. Altogether, these interactions span 212 individual medications.

certified organic Pink Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) dried leaf and flower liquid extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of lotus with other antiplatelet drugs might reduce platelet aggregation and increase the risk of bleeding.
Neferine and isoliensinine, constituents of lotus, have been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation, in vitro. These constituents can inhibit the production of pro-aggregating factors like prostaglandins.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, lotus might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research shows that the ethanolic extract of lotus reduces blood glucose levels and potentiates the effects of injected insulin. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
Pentobarbital (Nembutal)
Theoretically, taking lotus concomitantly with pentobarbital might increase sedation.
Animal research shows that lotus extract increases pentobarbitone-induced sleeping time. It is not known if this occurs in humans or if this effect occurs with other barbiturates or sedatives.
