L-glutamine shows effectiveness for sickle cell disease and is possibly effective for HIV/AIDS-related wasting, postoperative recovery, and critical illness from trauma.

Potassium is generally well tolerated from food, but supplements can raise blood potassium to dangerous levels in some people, especially those with kidney disease. Most common side effects from oral potassium are stomach upset — abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, and gas.
Rare serious effects include irregular heartbeat, low blood pressure, and heart block. Beta-alanine commonly causes harmless skin tingling and flushing, usually starting on the scalp within 20 minutes and lasting about an hour — this is dose-dependent and normal.
L-glutamine is generally well tolerated but most often causes bloating, gas, nausea, and diarrhea, especially at higher doses. People with kidney or liver disease should take glutamine only under medical supervision.
For pregnancy and breastfeeding: potassium from diet is fine, but supplements need your doctor's okay; beta-alanine and glutamine lack enough safety data — talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using them if you're pregnant or nursing.

Potassium
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)
Using ACEIs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ACEIs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.
Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (Arbs)
Using ARBs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ARBs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.

Glutamine is metabolized to the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate. Glutamate might have antagonistic effects with anticonvulsant drugs. However, this interaction has not yet been reported in humans.
