There are no inactive ingredients listed.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
We don't have effectiveness data on file for potassium citrate as a supplement. That said, potassium is essential for your body's basic functions — the question is whether you need supplementation and at what dose.
That's a conversation for your doctor or pharmacist, especially if you're managing a medical condition.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Potassium from food is safe for most people. Supplements are different — they can raise your blood level to dangerous points, particularly if you have kidney disease or take certain medications.
Common side effects from oral potassium include stomach pain, belching, diarrhea, gas, nausea, and vomiting. Serious but rare effects from very high levels include irregular heartbeat, heart block, low blood pressure, and mental confusion.
During pregnancy, dietary potassium is fine, but only use supplements under medical guidance. The same goes for breastfeeding — check with your doctor first.
If you have kidney disease, heart problems, or take blood pressure or diuretic medications, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this product if you take potassium-sparing diuretics (Moderate risk), ACE inhibitors (Moderate risk), or ARBs (Moderate risk). Because potassium interacts with 62 individual medications total, run your complete prescription list through the interaction checker below.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Potassium is vital, but supplementing is not a casual choice — it matters who you are and what medications you take. If you have kidney disease, high blood pressure, or take water pills or ACE inhibitors, you need to check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.
Use the interaction tool on this page to run your exact medications through, then discuss the results with your healthcare provider.

Potassium Citrate by BulkSupplements.com Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Potassium Citrate by BulkSupplements.com contains potassium, which interacts with blood pressure and heart medications in ways that can raise potassium to unsafe levels.
The most serious concern is with potassium-sparing diuretics (water pills that preserve potassium) — combining them with this supplement significantly increases the risk of dangerously high blood potassium (hyperkalemia), which can cause irregular heartbeat, heart block, low blood pressure, and confusion.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
ACE inhibitors and ARBs — common blood pressure drugs — also carry a Moderate risk when combined with high doses of potassium. Both drug classes reduce how much potassium your kidneys excrete, so adding a supplement on top raises levels further and tips the balance toward hyperkalemia.
Alongside these three drug types, people taking other potassium-affecting medications should verify their safety before starting this product. Altogether, these interactions span 62 individual medications.
Use the interaction checker below with your exact prescriptions before you begin.

Potassium
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)
Using ACEIs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ACEIs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.
Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (Arbs)
Using ARBs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ARBs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.
Potassium-Sparing Diuretics
Concomitant use increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
Using potassium-sparing diuretics with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
