What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probio Forte against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probio Forte by SuperSmart
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Probio Forte contains 6 active ingredients — four Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains (live probiotic organisms), plus inulin, a prebiotic fiber that feeds beneficial gut bacteria. There's also acacia gum as an inactive ingredient to hold the capsule together.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. Inulin is rated possibly effective for obesity, constipation, and diabetes.
The evidence for other uses in this product — like acute respiratory distress syndrome — isn't established well enough to rate. We couldn't find effectiveness data in our files for the other Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. Rare but serious infections — like bacteremia or endocarditis — have been reported, though most occur in people where bacteria naturally move from one body location to another; risk in healthy people appears low.
Taking it with other probiotics may cause gas, bloating, belly discomfort, or diarrhea, but these side effects are uncommon. Inulin is well tolerated overall but commonly causes bloating, gas, and cramping, especially at higher doses.
Anaphylaxis is rare but has occurred with foods high in inulin. Inulin is rated likely safe in pregnancy and lactation; we don't have pregnancy or breastfeeding safety data on file for Lactobacillus acidophilus.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist if you take antibiotics — Lactobacillus acidophilus effectiveness can be reduced when taken at the same time. If you're on diabetes medications, flag this product too, since inulin might theoretically lower your blood sugar further.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Probio Forte may help with digestive issues like IBS or antibiotic-associated diarrhea if you're taking Lactobacillus acidophilus for those conditions. If you're on antibiotics, diabetes medications, or any prescription drugs, check your specific medications with our tool before starting.
Talk to your pharmacist about timing if you're on antibiotics — spacing doses matters here.

Probio Forte by SuperSmart Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Probio Forte by SuperSmart contains ingredients that interact with some medications.
The most serious concern is Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotics — the live organisms in this probiotic can be killed by antibiotics, which may reduce how well the probiotic works. You'll want to space out doses; ask your pharmacist for timing guidance.

Inulin, another active ingredient here, may theoretically increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if you're on antidiabetes drugs — though the research isn't conclusive on whether inulin actually lowers blood sugar on its own.
We couldn't check the interaction data for Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus casei, Bifidobacterium animalis lactis, or Lactococcus lactis — we hold no monograph data for these ingredients. Altogether, these interactions span 267 individual medications.

For each ingredient in Probio Forte with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Lactobacillus acidophilus
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Inulin
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, inulin might increase the risk of hypoglycemia with antidiabetes drugs.
Some clinical research shows that inulin improves glycemic control in patients with diabetes; however, it is unclear if it has hypoglycemic effects.
