Probiotic & Antioxidant Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Just Thrive
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic & Antioxidant against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotic & Antioxidant by Just Thrive
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Just Thrive contains 4 active ingredients: a proprietary probiotic blend that includes three individual Bacillus strains — Bacillus subtilis HU58, Bacillus clausii SC-109, and Bacillus coagulans SC-208 — plus Bacillus indicus HU36. These are spore-forming bacteria intended to support gut health.
The capsules also contain cellulose and water as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these Bacillus strains varies by condition. Bacillus coagulans is rated possibly effective for constipation and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and Bacillus subtilis is rated possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
For other uses — athletic performance, various diseases, and other digestive issues — the evidence we hold is insufficient to rate how well these strains work. If you're considering this product for a specific condition, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what the current evidence actually supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Both Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus coagulans are generally well tolerated in healthy adults, though product quality and strain characteristics can vary. One headache was reported in a clinical trial with Bacillus subtilis, and diarrhea has been reported rarely with the same strain.
In rare cases, particularly severe infections (bacteremia and meningitis) have occurred in people with weakened immune systems, advanced age, or serious underlying illness who consumed high amounts of fermented natto containing Bacillus subtilis var. natto — but these cases are uncommon. People who are severely ill, immunocompromised, or have central lines (catheters) should talk with their doctor before using probiotic products.
For Bacillus clausii SC-109 and Bacillus indicus HU36, we hold no safety data, so talk with your doctor before starting if you have specific health concerns.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take any antibiotic drugs, check with your doctor or pharmacist about timing before you start this product — taking them together might reduce how well the probiotic works. Run your full medication list through the checker on this page to be sure, especially since we could not verify two of the four active ingredients for interactions.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic may help with certain digestive issues — constipation, IBS, and antibiotic-associated diarrhea in particular — though evidence varies. The main thing to know is the antibiotic interaction: if you're taking antibiotics, you'll need to time this supplement carefully and talk with your doctor or pharmacist about when to take each one.
Anyone who's severely ill or has a weakened immune system should check with their healthcare provider first.

Probiotic & Antioxidant by Just Thrive Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Just Thrive Probiotic & Antioxidant contains live bacterial strains, two of which — Bacillus subtilis HU58 and Bacillus coagulans SC-208 — have documented interactions with antibiotics.
Both can theoretically become less effective if you take them at the same time as antibiotic drugs, because the antibiotics may kill off a significant portion of the live organisms in the supplement. The interaction is rated Moderate for both strains.

The way around this is timing: your doctor or pharmacist can help you space out when you take the antibiotic and when you take this probiotic so they don't interfere with each other. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
We couldn't check two of the four active ingredients in this product — Bacillus clausii SC-109 and Bacillus indicus HU36 — so there's a chance they may interact with medications as well. Before you start this supplement, run your full medication list through the interaction checker below, especially if you take or are about to take any antibiotic.
