What’s inside

Low disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Low

Most active ingredients don't disclose an individual amount — you can't tell how much of each you're getting.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 0 of its 4 active ingredients.
  • “Proprietary Probiotic Blend” is a proprietary blend — the label gives one combined amount (175 mg) without saying how much of each component you get.

This product contains four active ingredients: a proprietary probiotic blend plus three individual Bacillus strains — Bacillus subtilis HU58, Bacillus clausii SC-109, and Bacillus coagulans SC-208. Probiotics are live beneficial bacteria meant to support gut health.

The formula also contains cellulose and water as inactive ingredients.

Moderate evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Moderate

Some clinical evidence supports this product's ingredients for its stated purpose, but it isn't conclusive.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: digestive health and immune support.
  • We looked for evidence on: Constipation, Diarrhea, Flatulence, Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Dyspepsia, Upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) — and 2 related terms.
  • The strongest evidence on file: Bacillus Coagulans is rated "Possibly Effective" for Constipation (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Bacillus Coagulans is rated "Possibly Effective" for Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
  • Also on file: Bacillus Subtilis is rated "Possibly Effective" for Antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

Bacillus subtilis HU58 is possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea (loose stools caused by antibiotics), but the evidence is insufficient to rate it for athletic performance, cirrhosis, constipation, eczema, or diabetes. Bacillus coagulans SC-208 is possibly effective for constipation and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), but evidence is insufficient to rate it for antibiotic-associated diarrhea, athletic performance, cancer, or fatty liver disease.

We have no effectiveness data on file for Bacillus clausii SC-109 and Bacillus indicus HU-36.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 2 of the 2 matched ingredients.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 2 of 2.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 2 of 2.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Both Bacillus subtilis HU58 and Bacillus coagulans SC-208 are generally well tolerated in healthy adults, though product quality can vary between brands. In clinical trials, headache was reported in a small number of participants taking Bacillus subtilis, and diarrhea has been reported rarely.

There is limited safety data overall, so talk with your doctor before use. Rare but serious infections (bacteremia and meningitis) have been reported in people with weakened immune systems or serious underlying illness who consumed very high amounts of fermented soy products containing Bacillus subtilis var. natto; this is not a typical concern for most users but underscores the importance of checking with your doctor if you are immunocompromised.

No pregnancy or breastfeeding safety information is available for these ingredients.

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 2 of the 2 matched ingredients can interact with medications — Bacillus Coagulans, Bacillus Subtilis.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • For scale: 182 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Antibiotic drugs are the main medication type to double-check before taking this product. Both Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus coagulans in this formula may be less effective if you take them at the same time as antibiotics, so your doctor or pharmacist can help you time them apart properly.

Probiotic & Antioxidant by Just Thrive: Common Questions

Does Probiotic & Antioxidant by Just Thrive interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Probiotic & Antioxidant has a known interaction with 182 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Probiotic & Antioxidant contains 4 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this with an antibiotic?
Not at the same time. Antibiotics can kill off the live probiotic organisms, making the probiotic less effective. Ask your doctor or pharmacist how to space them apart — typically a few hours or more between doses works well.
Does this help with diarrhea?
Bacillus subtilis in this formula is possibly effective for diarrhea caused by antibiotics. Bacillus coagulans may help with general constipation and IBS symptoms, though the evidence is strongest for those two conditions.
Are there any side effects?
Both ingredients are generally well tolerated. Headache and diarrhea have been reported rarely in trials or use. Very serious infections are possible in people with severely weakened immune systems, so check with your doctor if that applies to you.
Is this safe in pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
We don't have safety data on file for these ingredients during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice.
What are probiotics for?
Probiotics are live beneficial bacteria meant to support gut health and digestion. This product contains three different Bacillus strains, each studied for conditions like diarrhea, IBS, and constipation.
Why can't you check Bacillus clausii or Bacillus indicus for interactions?
We don't hold monograph data for those two strains, so we can't check what medications they might interact with. Use the medication checker on this page with your exact drugs, and ask your pharmacist if you have questions.
