Prosolution Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Prosolution against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Prosolution contains 13 ingredients total, including several herbal extracts and minerals. The active components are Zinc (a mineral that supports immune function and cellular health), Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna, a traditional herbal support for circulation), Amla or Indian gooseberry (used traditionally to support overall wellness), Korean Panax ginseng (an adaptogenic herb), Butea superba (used in traditional medicine for sexual health), Reishi mushroom (an adaptogenic fungus), Safed Musli (Musli, a traditional botanical), and Cordyceps (a fungus sometimes used for energy and performance).
The product also contains several inactive ingredients—Dicalcium Phosphate, Cellulose, Croscarmellose Sodium, Stearic Acid, Silicon Dioxide, Magnesium Stearate, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, and Titanium Dioxide—which are standard tablet binders and fillers.
Does it work?
Leans against
The evidence for Prosolution's ingredients is mixed and often limited. Zinc is effective for zinc deficiency and likely effective for Wilson disease; for acne, age-related macular degeneration, diabetes, and acrodermatitis enteropathica, it's possibly effective.
For Arjuna, Amla, Reishi mushroom, Butea superba, and Cordyceps—the ingredients marketed for sexual or performance support—the data we hold shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate their effectiveness for erectile dysfunction or related concerns. Safed Musli likewise lacks sufficient evidence for athletic performance or muscle strength.
If sexual health is your main goal, the ingredients here have not been reliably proven to work in the studies we hold data for.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Zinc is generally well tolerated at recommended doses (below 40 mg daily for adults), though doses beyond the safe upper limit can cause copper deficiency over time. Common side effects from zinc include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, nausea, and a metallic taste—these are dose-related.
Arjuna is generally well tolerated short-term in studies, but long-term safety varies by product quality. Amla is generally well tolerated as a food, though supplement safety is less studied; a small number of trial participants reported stomach discomfort, fatigue, or muscle pain.
Reishi mushroom is generally well tolerated short-term; common effects include dizziness, dry mouth, itching, nausea, and mild rash. Cordyceps appears well tolerated for up to a year; some people report abdominal discomfort, constipation, or diarrhea, though these are uncommon and may improve if taken with food.
For Butea superba, limited safety data exist and product quality varies widely. We hold no reliable safety data for Safed Musli, Momordica, Apigenin, Korean Panax ginseng, Drilizen, Solidilin, or Bladderwrack.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check the following medication types before taking Prosolution: blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (anticoagulants like warfarin; antiplatelets like clopidogrel and aspirin) due to moderate risk of bleeding from Arjuna, Amla, Reishi mushroom, and Cordyceps. Moderate risk also applies to antidiabetes medications (Arjuna and Amla may lower blood sugar further), blood-pressure drugs (Reishi mushroom may add to their effect), and any medications your liver metabolizes via the CYP2D6, CYP2C9, or CYP3A4 pathways (Arjuna may increase their levels).
Erectile dysfunction drugs like sildenafil carry moderate risk due to Butea superba's theoretical additive blood-pressure-lowering effect. Immunosuppressants (Cordyceps may interfere).
Zinc also interacts moderately with quinolone and tetracycline antibiotics, cephalexin, and several HIV medications—spacing doses by 2–6 hours may help. No interactions are documented for the ingredients we could not check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with graded evidence leaning against its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Prosolution is a multi-ingredient supplement marketed for sexual health, though most of its key ingredients lack strong evidence of effectiveness in the data we hold. If you take blood thinners, diabetes medications, blood-pressure drugs, or medications metabolized by your liver, you'll need to check this product against your specific medications—zinc and several herbs here have documented interactions.
Talk with your pharmacist before starting, especially if you're on prescription drugs.

Prosolution by Leading Edge Health Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Prosolution by Leading Edge Health contains several ingredients with documented drug interactions.
Zinc, one of the active components, has the most extensive interaction profile. It moderately interacts with quinolone antibiotics (like ciprofloxacin), tetracycline antibiotics (like doxycycline), and several others by forming complexes in your gut that reduce how well both the drug and zinc are absorbed—you'll need to space these at least 2 hours apart, or 4–6 hours depending on the drug.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna) theoretically raises levels of several medication types metabolized by your liver's CYP2D6, CYP2C9, and CYP3A4 enzymes, which could increase their effects. It also carries a moderate risk of bleeding if you're on blood thinners (anticoagulants) or antiplatelet drugs.
Amla (Indian gooseberry) similarly may increase bleeding risk with anticoagulants, aspirin, and clopidogrel, and might lower blood sugar if you're on diabetes medications. Reishi mushroom theoretically lowers blood pressure and could add to antihypertensive drugs, raises bleeding risk at higher doses, and may affect blood sugar control.
Butea superba may amplify the blood-pressure-lowering effect of erectile dysfunction drugs like sildenafil (Viagra). Cordyceps theoretically increases bleeding risk with anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs, and may interfere with immunosuppressants.
Safed Musli (Musli) showed no interactions in our data. We could not check Momordica, Apigenin, Korean Panax ginseng, Drilizen, Solidilin, or Bladderwrack—no interaction data are on file for these ingredients.
Altogether, these interactions span 1,172 individual medications.

Arjuna
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of Terminalia arjuna with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs may increase the risk of bleeding in some patients.
In vitro, Terminalia arjuna bark extract inhibits platelet aggregation, decreases platelet activation, and shows antithrombotic properties.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of Terminalia bellirica or Terminalia chebula with antidiabetes drugs could affect blood sugar control and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal and in vitro research shows that Terminalia bellirica and Terminalia chebula fruit and seed extract have hypoglycemic effects.
Chlorzoxazone (Parafon Forte, Paraflex)
Theoretically, use of Terminalia chebula may increase the risk of adverse effects from chlorzoxazone.
Animal research shows that enteral administration of Terminalia chebula for 15 days prior to administration of chlorzoxazone increases blood levels of chlorzoxazone and decreases chlorzoxazone clearance. It is speculated that Terminalia chebula reduces the metabolism of chlorzoxazone by inhibiting cytochrome P450 2E1.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, use of Terminalia arjuna may increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Terminalia arjuna extract inhibits CYP2C9 enzymes and reduces CYP2C9 substrate metabolism.
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, use of Terminalia arjuna may increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Terminalia arjuna extract inhibits CYP2D6 enzymes and reduces CYP2D6 substrate metabolism.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, use of Terminalia arjuna may increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Terminalia arjuna extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes and reduces CYP3A4 substrate metabolism.
Omeprazole (Prilosec)
Theoretically, use of Terminalia chebula may increase the risk of adverse effects from omeprazole.
Animal research shows that enteral administration of Terminalia chebula for 15 days prior to administration of omeprazole increases blood levels of omeprazole and decreases omeprazole clearance. It is speculated that Terminalia chebula reduces the metabolism of omeprazole by inhibiting cytochrome P450 2C19.
Bladderwrack
Amiodarone (Cordarone)
Theoretically, combining Fucus vesiculosus with amiodarone might cause excessively high iodine levels.
Fucus vesiculosus contains high concentrations of iodine. Amiodarone contains 37.3% iodine and can increase iodine levels. Concomitant use might increase the risk of having excessive iodine levels and adversely affecting thyroid function. Monitor thyroid function.
Antithyroid Drugs
Due to its iodine content, Fucus vesiculosus might alter the effects of antithyroid drugs.
Fucus vesiculosus contains high concentrations of iodine. Iodine in high doses has been reported to cause both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, depending on the individual's past medical history. Taking Fucus vesiculosus while using antithyroid drugs could alter the effects of the antithyroid drugs.
Lithium
Concomitant use of Fucus vesiculosus and lithium has resulted in hyperthyroidism.
There is a case of hyperthyroidism occurring in a patient taking Fucus vesiculosus and lithium. Monitor thyroid hormones closely in patients taking lithium and Fucus vesiculosus concomitantly.
Thyroid Hormone
Due to its iodine content, Fucus vesiculosus might alter the effects of thyroid hormone.
Fucus vesiculosus contains high concentrations of iodine. Iodine in high doses has been reported to cause both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, depending on the individual's past medical history. Taking Fucus vesiculosus while using thyroid hormone could alter the effects of thyroid hormone.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, taking Fucus vesiculosus with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs might increase the risk of bruising and bleeding.
In vitro evidence suggests that a constituent of Fucus vesiculosus, known as fucoidan, has anticoagulant effects. However, in clinical research, fucoidan does not seem to have significant anticoagulant activity when taken orally, possibly due to poor absorption.
Cytochrome P450 2C8 (Cyp2C8) Substrates
Theoretically, concomitant use of Fucus vesiculosus with CYP2C8 substrates might increase the risk for adverse effects.
In vitro research shows that fucoidan, a constituent of Fucus vesiculosus, inhibits CYP2C8. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, concomitant use of Fucus vesiculosus with CYP2C9 substrates might increase the risk for adverse effects.
In vitro research shows that fucoidan, a constituent of Fucus vesiculosus, inhibits CYP2C9. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, concomitant use of Fucus vesiculosus with CYP2D6 substrates might alter the effects of these substrates.
In vitro research shows that fucoidan, a constituent of Fucus vesiculosus, both inhibits and induces CYP2D6. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, concomitant use of Fucus vesiculosus with CYP3A4 substrates might increase the risk for adverse effects.
In vitro research shows that fucoidan, a constituent of Fucus vesiculosus, inhibits CYP3A4. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Reishi Mushroom
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, high doses of reishi mushroom might increase the risk of bleeding.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
Cordyceps
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, cordyceps may increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that cordyceps extract inhibits platelet aggregation and function. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that cordyceps stimulates the immune system. However, limited clinical research suggests that taking cordyceps may lower the necessary therapeutic dose of the immunosuppressant cyclosporine, which suggests that cordyceps may have an immunosuppressive effect.
Testosterone
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps and testosterone might have additive effects.
Animal research suggests that cordyceps can increase testosterone levels. The clinical significance of this finding is unclear.
Amla
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, Indian gooseberry may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs; however, research is conflicting.
Clinical research shows that taking Indian gooseberry 500 mg as a single dose or twice daily for 10 days reduces platelet aggregation by about 24% to 36%, increases bleeding time by about 3.8-5.9 seconds, and increases clotting time by about 9.8-12.7 seconds when compared to baseline. However, taking Indian gooseberry 500 mg along with clopidogrel 75 mg or ecosprin 75 mg, as a single dose or for 10 days, does not significantly reduce platelet aggregation or increase bleeding time or clotting time when compared with clopidogrel 75 mg or ecosprin 75 mg alone. Until more is known, use caution when taking Indian gooseberry in combination with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Taking Indian gooseberry with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research shows that taking Indian gooseberry fruit or fruit extract alone or in conjunction with antidiabetes medications can lower blood glucose levels. Dose adjustments to diabetes medications might be necessary.
Aspirin
Theoretically, Indian gooseberry may increase the risk of bleeding if used with aspirin; however, research is conflicting.
However, taking a single dose of Indian gooseberry 500 mg along with ecosprin 75 mg, or taking a combination of Indian gooseberry 500 mg twice daily plus ecosprin 75 mg once daily for 10 days, does not significantly reduce platelet aggregation or increase bleeding time or clotting time when compared with ecosprin 75 mg alone.
Clopidogrel (Plavix)
Theoretically, Indian gooseberry may increase the risk of bleeding if used with clopidogrel; however, research is conflicting.
However, taking a single dose of Indian gooseberry 500 mg along with clopidogrel 75 mg, or taking a combination of Indian gooseberry 500 mg twice daily plus clopidogrel 75 mg once daily for 10 days, does not significantly reduce platelet aggregation or increase bleeding time or clotting time when compared with clopidogrel 75 mg alone.
Zinc
Bictegravir/Emtricitabine/Tenofovir Alafenamide (Biktarvy)
Theoretically, zinc might decrease levels of bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide by reducing its absorption.
Advise patients that bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide should be taken at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after zinc containing products.
Cephalexin (Keflex)
Zinc might decrease cephalexin levels by chelating with cephalexin in the gut and preventing its absorption.
A pharmacokinetic study shows that zinc sulfate 250 mg taken concomitantly with cephalexin 500 mg decreases peak levels of cephalexin by 31% and reduces the exposure to cephalexin by 27%. Also, taking zinc sulfate 3 hours before cephalexin decreases peak levels of cephalexin by 11% and reduces the exposure to cephalexin by 18%. By decreasing cephalexin levels, zinc might increase the risk of treatment failure. This effect does not occur when zinc is taken 3 hours after the cephalexin dose. To avoid an interaction, advise patients take zinc sulfate 3 hours after taking cephalexin.
Cisplatin (Platinol-Aq)
Theoretically, zinc might interfere with the therapeutic effects of cisplatin.
Animal research suggests that zinc stimulates tumor cell production of the protein metallothionein, which binds and inactivates cisplatin. It is not known whether zinc supplements or high dietary zinc intake can cause clinically significant interference with cisplatin therapy. Cisplatin might also increase zinc excretion.
Integrase Inhibitors
Theoretically, taking zinc along with integrase inhibitors might decrease the levels and clinical effects of these drugs.
Zinc is a divalent cation. Pharmacokinetic studies have shown that other divalent cations such as calcium and iron can decrease blood levels of the integrase inhibitor dolutegravir through chelation.
Penicillamine (Cuprimine, Depen)
Zinc might reduce the levels and clinical effects of penicillamine.
By forming an insoluble complex with penicillamine, zinc interferes with penicillamine absorption and activity. Zinc supplements reduce the efficacy of low-dose penicillamine (0.5-1 gram/day), but do not seem to affect higher doses (1-2.75 gram/day), provided dosing times are separated. Advise patients to take zinc and penicillamine at least 2 hours apart.
Quinolone Antibiotics
Zinc can decrease the levels and clinical effects of quinolones antibiotics.
Quinolones form complexes with zinc in the gastrointestinal tract, reducing absorption of both the quinolone and zinc if taken at the same time. Advise patients to take these drugs at least 2 hours before, or 4-6 hours after, zinc supplements.
Ritonavir (Norvir)
Zinc modestly reduces levels of ritonavir.
Clinical research shows that zinc might reduce serum ritonavir levels by chelating with ritonavir in the gut and preventing its absorption. In patients with HIV, ritonavir is taken with atazanavir to prevent the metabolism and increase the effects of atazanavir. A pharmacokinetic study shows that, in patients being treated with atazanavir/ritonavir, co-administration of zinc sulfate (Solvazinc tablets) 125 mg as a single dose or as multiple daily doses for 2 weeks reduces plasma levels of ritonavir by about 16%. However, atazanavir levels still remains high enough to prevent HIV virus replication. Therefore, the decrease in ritonavir levels is not likely to be clinically significant.
Tetracycline Antibiotics
Zinc might reduce levels of tetracycline antibiotics.
Tetracyclines form complexes with zinc in the gastrointestinal tract, which can reduce absorption of both the tetracycline and zinc when taken at the same time. Taking zinc sulfate 200 mg with tetracycline reduces absorption of the antibiotic by 30% to 40%. Demeclocycline and minocycline cause a similar interaction. However, doxycycline does not seem to interact significantly with zinc. Advise patients to take tetracyclines at least 2 hours before, or 4-6 hours after, zinc supplements to avoid any interactions.
Amiloride (Midamor)
Amiloride can modestly reduce zinc excretion and increase zinc levels.
Clinical research shows that amiloride can reduce urinary zinc excretion, especially at doses of 10 mg per day or more. This zinc-sparing effect can help to counteract zinc losses caused by thiazide diuretics, but it is unlikely to cause zinc toxicity at usual amiloride doses. The other potassium-sparing diuretics, spironolactone (Aldactone) and triamterene (Dyrenium), do not seem to have a zinc-sparing effect.
Atazanavir (Reyataz)
Zinc modestly reduces levels of atazanavir, although this effect does not seem to be clinically significant.
Clinical research shows that zinc might decrease serum atazanavir levels by chelating with atazanavir in the gut and preventing its absorption. Although a single dose of zinc sulfate (Solvazinc tablets) 125 mg orally does not affect atazanavir concentrations in patients being treated with atazanavir/ritonavir, co-administration of zinc sulfate 125 mg daily for 2 weeks reduces plasma levels of atazanavir by about 22% in these patients. However, despite this decrease, atazanavir levels still remain at high enough concentrations for the prevention of HIV virus replication.
Butea Suberba
Phosphodiesterase-5 Inhibitors
Butea superba is thought to inhibit phosphodiesterase and cause vasodilation. Theoretically, concurrent use of phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors and Butea superba might result in additive vasodilation and hypotension. Phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors include sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis), and vardenafil (Levitra).
