Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Fucus Vesiculosus interacts with.
In vitro research shows that fucoidan, a constituent of Fucus vesiculosus, inhibits CYP2C9. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for Combogesic, which pairs acetaminophen with ibuprofen. The ibuprofen part is partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. In a test tube, fucoidan (a compound in bladderwrack) slowed that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, ibuprofen could clear a little slower and linger, which in theory might nudge up its usual side effects like stomach upset, heartburn, or, with heavier use, kidney strain.
That said, this is only lab data and has never been reported in actual people, so the real-world risk looks small. Still, if you have a thyroid condition or take this regularly, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding bladderwrack.

In vitro evidence suggests that a constituent of Fucus vesiculosus, known as fucoidan, has anticoagulant effects. However, in clinical research, fucoidan does not seem to have significant anticoagulant activity when taken orally, possibly due to poor absorption.
Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..
Here's the gist for Combogesic, which pairs ibuprofen with acetaminophen. The ibuprofen half already has a mild blood-thinning effect because it slows down platelets, the cells that help you form clots. Bladderwrack contains a compound called fucoidan that, in a test tube, looks like it might thin the blood a little too. So in theory, stacking the two could nudge up your odds of easy bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach upset and bleeding from the ibuprofen.
In real life, though, this concern is mostly hypothetical. When people actually swallow fucoidan, the body barely absorbs it, so it doesn't seem to thin the blood in any meaningful way. I wouldn't lose sleep over it, but if you take this seaweed regularly or have a bleeding condition, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
