Restore Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Restore against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Low disclosure
Pure Essence PureBiotics Restore is a probiotic formula containing 11 active ingredients, all beneficial bacteria strains. You'll find Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, and several others—Bifidobacterium infantis, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus brevis, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Lactobacillus casei.
These are live microorganisms designed to support your gut flora. The capsule also contains microcrystalline cellulose, L-leucine, silicon dioxide, and a vegetable capsule—those are inactive ingredients that help deliver the active bacteria.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for these probiotic strains varies widely. Lactobacillus acidophilus is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome, Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis, though it's rated possibly ineffective for atopic disease and the evidence is insufficient for acute respiratory distress syndrome.
For Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus bulgaricus, the evidence we have is insufficient to rate them for conditions like age-related cognitive decline, hay fever, anxiety, asthma, acne, and the common cold. In short, there's some evidence backing Lactobacillus acidophilus for a few conditions, but for most of the other strains in this product, we don't have enough reliable data yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children, though you should check with your doctor before using it. Gastrointestinal side effects—like abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence, and diarrhea—are uncommon but possible when taking it with other probiotics.
Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus bulgaricus are also generally well tolerated in healthy people, but caution is advised if you're seriously ill or immune-compromised, since rare cases of bacterial infection have been reported in critically ill patients. Pregnancy and lactation: Lactobacillus acidophilus is rated possibly safe in pregnancy, but there's limited lactation data on file.
Bifidobacterium longum is possibly safe for both pregnancy and lactation. Lactobacillus bulgaricus has limited safety data for pregnancy and lactation, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs are the main concern: taking them at the same time as this product might reduce how well the probiotics work. Separate the timing of your antibiotics and this supplement—your doctor or pharmacist can advise you on the best spacing.
We have no interaction data for several of the bacterial strains in this product, so mention all your medications when you check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic blend may be worth considering if you're dealing with IBS, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, or similar digestive concerns—particularly if you're taking Lactobacillus acidophilus. Be extra careful if you're on antibiotics; you'll want to space out your doses with your doctor's or pharmacist's help.
If you're seriously ill, immune-compromised, pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk it through with your own healthcare provider before starting.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Pure Essence PureBiotics Restore contains several probiotic strains—Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, and Lactobacillus bulgaricus—that interact with antibiotic drugs.

Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Although we hold no interaction data for Bifidobacterium lactis, Bifidobacterium infantis, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus paracasei, Lactobacillus brevis, Lactobacillus salivarius, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, or Lactobacillus casei, we cannot rule out interactions with those strains. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.

For each ingredient in Restore with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Lactobacillus acidophilus (SD5212)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
Bifidobacterium longum (SD5588)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium longum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. longum.
Since B. longum preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. longum preparations by at least 2 hours.
Lactobacillus bulgaricus (SD6833)
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus delbrueckii with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. delbrueckii.
Lactobacillus delbrueckii preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. delbrueckii preparations by at least two hours.
