Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This supplement contains a single active ingredient: riboflavin (also called vitamin B2), a water-soluble B vitamin your body needs for energy production and cell health. At 400 mg per tablet, this is well above the daily recommended amount — it's a high-dose formulation.

The remaining ingredients are inactive: cellulose, sodium croscarmellose, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, stearic acid, silica, glycerin, and carnauba wax (these are fillers, binders, and capsule materials).

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Riboflavin product and its label doesn't state a use — see Riboflavin's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

We hold no effectiveness data for riboflavin 400 mg in our records. That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means we haven't established evidence for a specific health claim tied to this dose.

If you're considering it for a particular reason, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether the evidence supports that use.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Riboflavin is very well tolerated overall; your body simply removes excess amounts in the urine. The most common side effects are dose-related nausea and bright yellow urine discoloration — both harmless.

Rarely, diarrhea and increased urination have been reported. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, riboflavin is needed for normal health.

The data rates it as likely safe at recommended amounts, but because this is a high-dose supplement, check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're pregnant or nursing.

Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you use tetracycline antibiotics (such as doxycycline or minocycline). Lab research suggests riboflavin may reduce their effectiveness, though this hasn't been confirmed in human patients.

Riboflavin 400 mg by Integrative Therapeutics: Common Questions

Does Riboflavin 400 mg by Integrative Therapeutics interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Riboflavin 400 mg has a known interaction with 20 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Riboflavin 400 mg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Will this supplement turn my urine yellow?
Yes — bright yellow urine is a normal, harmless side effect of high-dose riboflavin and is dose-related. It reflects excess vitamin being cleared through your kidneys, which is expected with this product.
Can I take this while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Riboflavin is needed during both pregnancy and breastfeeding. At recommended doses it's considered likely safe, but because this is a high-dose supplement (400 mg), check with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice before starting.
What side effects might I notice?
Most commonly, nausea (related to the dose) and yellow urine. Rarely, diarrhea and increased urination have been reported in clinical use.
Why is this dose so high?
The daily recommended amount of riboflavin is much lower than 400 mg. High-dose riboflavin supplements are used for specific purposes — ask your doctor or pharmacist what this particular dose is intended to support.
