What’s inside
Low disclosure
This liquid extract contains one active ingredient: graviola leaf extract, a concentrated form of compounds from the graviola plant. It's supplied as a liquid in a base of glycerin and purified water.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold does not establish that graviola is effective for any condition. Studies have looked at it for human papillomavirus (HPV), headache, male infertility, and as an insect repellent, but the data we have rates all of these as insufficient reliable evidence.
That doesn't mean it won't work — it means we don't yet have the strong clinical proof to back up any claim.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Graviola is generally not well tolerated with regular use. The most common side effects reported in studies are stomach pain (epigastrium pain) and nausea, but there are also rare serious concerns: movement disorders and nerve damage (myeloneuropathy) that resemble Parkinson disease.
One observational study in Parkinson patients suggests that even low-dose graviola, even as a tea, was linked to worsening motor and thinking symptoms. Lab studies also raise concerns about possible nerve toxicity with long-term use, though human data are limited.
The safety data advises against use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Because graviola has not been studied well in these settings, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before considering it if you're pregnant, planning pregnancy, or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take carbamazepine (Tegretol) for seizures, check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding this product — graviola may lower your drug levels and reduce seizure control.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Graviola has not been shown to work reliably for any condition in our data, and regular use carries real safety concerns — especially the rare risk of movement disorders and nerve damage. If you take carbamazepine (Tegretol) for seizures, this product could reduce how well your medication works.
Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before starting, particularly if you're taking any seizure medication or have concerns about nerve or movement health.
